I'm about to start into sculpting foam and this is a valuable video for researching foams for it. I hope more people see it

Thank you for this video. I tried all the others and got the same result....not holding detail, the annoying 'snow' that can't be cleaned up easily. I purchased some of these blue boards, laminated them for my desired thickness and just went at it with the knife, hot wire, and sandpaper. My end products are busts; covered with mortar.

Is there an easy way to seal and/or paint the surface of the Lowes foam?
@grandmajosephine3834 жыл бұрын
Very informative Luigi. What do you hard coat with? I want to cover my piece with fiberglass in the end but it eats away the foam.

I use a 50/50 mix of Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty mixed with USG Dust Control Joint Compound. The Druhams is WAY too hard to use on its own (it's like sanding iron) and the USG is way too soft. With this blend I get the best of both worlds. I have another video on sealants and hard coats. Thanks for watching.

I'm sure the crappy stuff can be used to bulk out a sculpture...unless for some odd reason they don't glue together

Mr. Luigi B: what do you use to glue the sheets of extruded polystyrene together? Curious to know because I don't understand how you could hot wire thru the glues. Looking forward to your answer! Thx.

He says in another video he uses a primer made by glidden. Pretty ingenious.
@luigib23073 жыл бұрын
Andrew Johnson is correct. I used to use Glidden Gripper, a bonding primer that Glidden no longer makes. I've switched to Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer.
