I think its well worth while doing single hop beers to learn the flavour profile. Never seen anyone weigh grain in a wok either. Love your channel. Cheers

Thanks for the kind words. I am generally not a fan of many "Single Malt" beers but I find that most "Single Hop" pale ale style beers turn out very nice. I often measure out my grain into a 3-gallon pot. It holds a good amount of grain and fits well on my scale.

I would like to get a smaller fermonster for test batches. Lugging around the 7 gallon gets heavy and if it sucks its a big waste.

I really like my 3-gallon Fermonsters. I often target 2.7 gal into the fermenter to try and get 2.5 gal into a keg. It works good for splitting a 5 gallon batch, or brewing a smaller batch.

Sounds great! Using Verdant in beers other than Hazy IPA has been on my list to try.

Hey! I just ordered myself a fermonster. You got any recommendations on cleaning and sanitising? Particularly for the tap
@CascadesHomebrew2 жыл бұрын
I have really enjoyed my Fermonsters (I used glass carboys for many years prior). I now have a pair of 3-gallon, a 7-gallon, and a 1-gallon. For cleaning, it is nice that you can reach down inside. I clean them well with a soft sponge and detergent. The krausen line can take a bit of work to clean. I use StarSan as my sanitizer. Cleaning spigots can be a challenge given how many nooks and crannies they have. There are some videos on KZbin showing how to fully disassemble different spigot types. A 10 minute soak in 190F water is also a good way to ensure they are fully sanitized. I had a couple batches get infected a few years ago, and I suspect poorly cleaned spigots were the source.

@@CascadesHomebrew I think I may have had this issue myself recently! Lesson learnt

have you ever tried some of the Kviek yeasts? since sometimes you are looking to turn around a beer abit quicker?
@CascadesHomebrew2 жыл бұрын
Voss is the only kveik strain and I have really enjoyed it in hoppy beers like Pale Ales and IPAs. Trying out Lutra is on my near term list.

how do i order some of this malt from montana ? i saw they had bavarian pilsner malt and really want some but how do i shop?? thank you very much
@CascadesHomebrew Жыл бұрын
I got it from my local shop here in Virginia (www.mylhbs.com/). I think with price hikes and supply issues they have been stocking some bags of grain just because they can get it in stock. It seems like a good base malt for the price. Shipping sacks of grain can be very pricey, so I would try to track down a local vendor.
