Great review! We currently use the Evan-Moor spelling books, and my kids like them. My daughter was struggling with her spelling with our main curriculum (T4L). It doesn't have a spelling curriculum, unfortunately, so I gave Evan-Moor a try. I noticed her spelling skills have improved since using Evan-Moor! She's now only missing between 3 - 4 words with a list of 15 words. BIG improvement! (I also supplement with ABC order and sentence writing.)

We just got Evan Moor Spelling. It looks really good. I like repetitive activities so my daughter knows what to do and can look forward to them. That’s why she also loves Explode the Code so much for Phonics. ❤️😊 Thanks for reviewing! We use this in conjunction with All About Spelling. Next year we’ll do Levels 3 and 4. 👍🏻 We like both the traditional spelling list approach along with teaching the phonics rules.

Repetition is very helpful! I like how you couple the two to help her. All About Spelling is a strong contender for my 5 year old. Since we don’t have another one after her I’m a little hesitant to get it since so much of it can be reused over and over.

Holly smoke we use the same books in our homeschool! My daughter has ADHD. I’m starting All About Spelling this year for the first time. It seems like it will be a solid foundation for her spelling lessons. She loves beyond the code and explode the code as well. She can read on a 4th grade level but has trouble with spelling, writing, and reading comprehension. I love the Spectrum and Evan-moor books. I’m using a book from Amazon this year with 100 fun stem experiments along with our Spectrum workbooks. My husband likes to look at our curriculum for the year. I found him reading the 3rd grade Spectrum Science book for an hour lol 😂! He said “ Heck I need to attend classes with her! This book has taught me stuff I didn’t know!” Lol 😂 I sometimes find myself reading the book instead of making a lesson plan lol 😂.

I don't speak English very well but I can say thank you very much for taking your time to explain very well. I think those books are the right books for my daughter She's on 2nd grade but I didn't know about those books.

Thanks so much for this. I'm new to homeschool this year for my 4th and 2nd grader and was looking at these two spelling books. They are both naturally good spellers, and I think I prefer the Spectrum layout but noted that you think Evan Moor is a little more challenging. I believe they need the more challenging words. But what are your thoughts of using both books and alternating them so they can get a mix of both lists of words? Also do you use another curriculum for vocabulary or would you say this is sufficient to fill that?

That’s a great idea if you’re wanting them to get in more word variations. I’m not a stay with your grade kind of person when it comes to spelling. I simply want them exposed. It would Definitely take you longer to complete both but if the grade thing doesn’t bother you I say go for it! We do use a separate vocabulary curriculum. The spelling has some weekly but not the central. You could just expand on what they have done without buying an entirely different curriculum. Hope this helps.

Here is Spectrum grade 3. During pandemic they made most if not all of their spelling levels free downloads. If this is not the grade you are needing you can just Google spectrum spelling grade ?
