Another cat project I think Joobie would love is cat shelves. See, cats are very territorial creatures and they love being high overseeing their domain--it makes them feel confident. So if you made some shelves going up a wall like a staircase with a big carpeted perch she could sleep in at the top she would absolutely use it.

From what it looks like, they have a giant yard, and their cat loves the little spot they made for her. They know their cat better than anyone, don't come after them like you're better than them for cat-proofing your yard.

I have an experience to share: We made a dog house with a acrylic top and it made the inside of the dogouse so hot when the sun was out. We made a cover for it out of UV fabric, like they use for greenhouses, that helped but the California sun was too brutal. We ended up putting a different top on it.

Well done! Here's a tip for the future. The acrylic piece initially fit because you were dropping it in vertically. When you are installing a thick piece of acrylic (or anything thick and rigid) into a fixed opening at a tiny angle (as you did here), if possible the top edge should be beveled slightly so that it will fit into the opening at that angle, while still ending up tight at the very end.

I’ve been thinking about making my own cat a catio for a while. She’s getting older and originally was someone’s indoor/outdoor cat who had a lot of anxiety when it came to being exclusively indoors. As she’s getting older I’ve started to become worried about her spending time outside so I hope by building a catio it will both keep her safe and alleviate the anxiety she had when I tried to keep her as an indoor only cat so she can live a long and healthy life into old age.

My sister got both a free Huge bird game (you can step inside it!) and a dog crate for cheap on Facebook marketplace. With some zip ties and a cat flap installed into the fly screen of Her cats favourite window the kitty now has a really easy, strong and budget friendly play space. It’s not a permanent structure as they rent but that can be a plus in some cases too

This catio idea is very cool. I had my sweet short-haired tabby cat for 15 years until she passed on. She was a Polydactyl Hemingway type cat. Her little mittens were so cute. I wish I had one of these catios for Kitty to enjoy back then. She was an indoor cat her whole lifetime but she liked to look out of the windows. I really enjoyed watching this catio build. I’ve made several, and my cats love them. Here are some tips: 1) The weight of s carried by the windowsill. I attach it using slotted angles, which are concealed by the various; 2) Heavy duty cat screen all around. Where there are other critters, reinforce this on the outside with hardware cloth; 3) Keep the top screen and flat. Neighbor cats will lay on top and hang out with your cat; 4) Open window all the way. Insert piece of thick foam board. Lower window slightly to secure in place. Install cat door in the foam panel. 5) Design shelves so they dry quickly to prevent mildew.

When stapling something stretchy or something you want to be tight, always start in the middle of all four sides, so you start in the middle of one side and staple once, go to the opposite side middle staple once and so on, before going out from the middle of all sides to left and right, this way you can stretch the material nicely
