I LOVE this one. The other one that recently taught me a lot was Charlotte Dobre putting on her makeup while drunk (2nd channel). She has since changed how she does her eyebrows, but drunk Charlotte had to articulate a lot of the WHY she does things and there were a few things I just never knew why before. It's also refreshing to see people who don't really use foundation...I just thought that's a requirement before makeup and hate the way it ages my face no matter what one I try.

Just follow the same tutorials but find alternative products that work for you for your price range. Same way poor artists make do with cheap supplies. Its all about technique and application, though better tools always helps.

@mae33372 жыл бұрын
Great pro tip- don't extend shadow or liner beyond the eyebrow toward the temple; too heavy and ages the entire face. Either extend the brow or shorten the shadow and liner. Also- thick cat eye on a bare face takes over- when that's all the eye can focus on- outside of a costume, it defeats the purpose...it's wearing you, you're not wearing it. Less eyeliner is waaaaay more, Katelyn. ✨️

Crystal Lindy also has a great tutorial on longer for hooded lids! Def recommend
@willow67282 жыл бұрын
@@mae3337 While you are right concerning the technicalities, I think it's equally important to just acknowledge that Katelyn is doing her make-up how she feels best for herself. It's okay to go beyond "rules" and wear stuff however you want to. She's not trying to teach anything, or be a pro, she's just showing what she's doing regularly. I know you're trying to be helpful, I just wanted to point out that there are actually no real rules concerning make-up. That being said - thank you for the "either extend the brow or shorten the shadow and liner" tip, I will see how that alters my own make-up looks!

I feel you. Same situation for me! Speaking from my position, I really enjoy getting back into make-up after a long, long time. I have struggled with my hooded eyes a lot (mine are equally hooded as katelyn's) but found that make-up can work around that in a lot of ways. And it's nice to do it for yourself, taking care of your looks (especially after 3 years of pandemic). I came to enjoy the videos of KZbinr Alexandra Anele (while she is a real booty gooroo, she also has a super chill vibe about everything she explains, I never felt so encouraged to do my make-up as I do after watching some of her videos).

It always surprises me how similar makeup is to miniature painting, they both involve increasing the perceived contrast and readability by highlighting raised features and shading the recesses while adding some more color variation across the surface, with a lot of attention paid to color interactions to achieve a natural look. If E&K ever wanted, for example, to make a diorama based on D&D, Katelyn could learn to paint minis pretty quickly.

Just a helpful tip for broken palettes or blushes like this, if you (carefully) crush all of the little lumps, and then spray the powder down with a spray bottle, you can press the powder back into a solid compact! Kaitlyn, I really appreciate how you appreciate your eyebrows. Over the last 10 years, I've lost over half the hair on my head, as well as, at one point, 85 % of the hair on my body. While some hair has grown back, I have to(choose to) shave my underarms every few weeks now, as opposed to before I started losing my hair when I'd joke that I'd shave in the morning, and by supper time I'd have 5 O'clock shadow. The hair on my head was really high density, and really curly. It's still curly, but it's so different than before. Alopecia is a big 💩. I've always enjoyed your videos and this is one of the places I turn when I'm anxious. Plus my cat Chewie seems to enjoy the two of you as well! Kaitlyn, be proud of your eyebrows, they are your friends! Everybody, enjoy those brows, because you never know how long they'll be up there, like some kind of misplaced mustache. Sigh. 😜

As a professional MUA, esthetician and former Sephora educator, I think yiu did a great job explaining what you were doing. And for the most part you used the correct steps and techniques. My only tip would to add an additional transition color in your crease that is lighter than the first brown you used. It was a little too dark and a half tone lighter brown would create a softer gradient. I also would recommend using a matte shade for this instead of the MAC shimmer you're using. It looks like My Newest Addiction, if memory serves, which isn't meant to be used in the crease
@willcookmakeup2 жыл бұрын
Oh you also need a new blush lol. The fit me formula is extremely pigmented. So if you're swirling that much and only a little amount is coming off, the top layer of the blush has oxidized and created a sort of oil film on top that slightly hardened. I'm not sure what the name of this chemical process is, but I can tell it's spread through thr product at this point and you need to replace it. Sometimes when this happens you can lightly scrape off the top layer, but I think this one is past that. Anyway hahaha great video :))

Hey Katelyn! You were talking about how you heard people say that getting your beauty blender damp can help to blend your makeup, and that is 100% true! You could try completely soaking your blender in water under the tap, squeezing as youre doing it so that the whole sponge is soaked, then squeeze out the extra water and squeeze it again into a towel. It makes all the difference!

As someone who has watched probably too many hours of makeup videos... 😅 - Try putting the eye primer on before the translucent powder! You can still set part or all of it with translucent powder if you want; I set the part above my crease with powder so I can blend there more easily but leave the part on my lid tacky to get extra pigment there. - My favorite hack for blending my outermost shade of eye shadow into nothingness (AKA getting the shadow to stop but not look like it just *stops* y'know) is to use a fluffy brush that either doesn't have anything on it or has a powder that matches my skin tone. I also tend to do very vibrant colors though so I kinda need to spend more time blending than I would if I was using "safe" colors like these, hehe. - Getting the angle right (and symmetrical) for eyeliner is my eternal struggle, which is why I just don't do winged eyeliner. :P I'm always so impressed with how yours looks, especially with the added challenge of hooded eyes. - Makeup sponges are absolutely better at blending when they're damp! I don't use cream highlighter like you do but I use a damp sponge to apply/blend my liquid foundation sometimes. - You can (carefully) use a lash curler after mascara, but I think you're supposed to wait for it to be completely dry before you do that because of the sticking issue. And I can relate to having stubborn lashes that refuse to stay up and also decide they want to twist together on the outer corners. -_- - If you want some quality makeup content to watch, my favorite makeup KZbinr person is Robert Welsh! He's a professional MUA, he does a good job of explaining why things do or don't work, he's got a very soothing voice, and his eye shadow looks are gorgeous. :D Excited to see Evan use this new knowledge for his next attempt at makeup artistry! I really appreciate that he genuinely tried in the previous video and was really paying attention and learning in this one. Definitely the best "husband does makeup thing" videos I've ever seen!
