As a fairly young person who is mildly disabled, I absolutely love the representation in this game. She used to be a climber. But then she develops back pain for some reason, she gets more and more medication, and she eventually gets a cane. In her 20s or 30s. And it's not the entirety of who she is. She's also an artist and a parent and a DnD player and a queer person. But also, she has a cane. It's so refreshing.

yeah and the bit where she tried to make it work with zen garden musician whey boy, that didn't clear wall space for her diploma or ukelele. That felt real. like picking a guy who is the embodiment of what she should want but there is no room for her, and these things that represent who she is. Compared to how when her girlfirend moves in and there is space made for both of them to fill the space.(also I'm pretty sure the hints were that her girlfirend was a writer, and that their two art forms together contributed to her book.)

You can play what's called dark star mode by putting every single item in the wrong place. It's harder than it sounds. If you do it in every single room then you get a dark star on the outside of your journal when it's done. I love this game. I've probably played it 10 times. This was fun!

Details you can infer from this- The protagonist, after college, moves in with the boyfriend (likely the male roommate), and there's a messy breakup, when she moves back home. This is the point we see the first pain patches appear, and the more intense workout stuff vanishes. Later, she also unpacks a cane, suggesting she had an injury of some kind. Protagonist is also Jewish, but I think that one's a little more obvious. The new girlfriend is Asian- and it's the previous OTHER roommate! A few of the items are the same. She had a Wok, and when she moves in you unpack the dumpling steamer, the rice cooker, etc. Also, the boyfriend made no room for you to move in. Just kind of shoved his own stuff to the side a little bit, or made you take care ofit yourself. Didn't even leave you place to hang your diploma. When the girlfriend moves in, you've already cleared space for her, and bought a second storage unit for the closet so she'd have her own place.

University in Australia takes 3 years, that's why we had a diploma in the 3rd place. And why we had a kitchen in the 2nd. Most countries don't have dorms like the US does. Sharing bedrooms isn't uncommon globally. But being without an (at least) shared kitchen is almost unheard of outside of China and a few others. And Chinese dorms more closely resemble the type of barracks the US military uses for basic training.

The boxes with some items in wrong boxes was me packing, I got so tired of packing towards the end, panicked and just filled boxes with everything since it was a fight to get ready for moving day. I mean I was packing 20 years of stuff was emotional and saying goodbye to my dog was sad boi hours. Also I hated packing and unpacking. Still don't have everything unpacked after a year lol The cane is actually super relatable to me, as someone who has chronic pain in their 20s.

My first time playing, I was in the middle of unpacking boxes of stuff we inherited from my husband's parents who both passed within a year of each other so in the game I started crying when we unpacked more sophisticated ladies items! I thought the protagonist inherited her mom's stuff after she passed 🥺 I was so stuck in my own narrative of that that I completely missed the romantic relationship! “Oh my gosh, look at that chicken!” Even said reminded me of my family’s ceramic chicken my mom and her sisters pass around giving it to each other in funny ways. The beginning of the chicken was my grandparents and my aunts were moving houses ( my mom was already living on her own in college) the house they moved in had a lot of ceramic animals in the backyard and my mom saw the chicken and pranked my aunt by hiding it in her stuff. Anyone thinks that the main character is abused by the boyfriend? She is a sporty person and has friends. Then she met boyfriend and she moves back home with a bunch of medication. I remember when I played this game and unpacked when she moved in with the boyfriend. It felt so uncomfortable because unlike the previous places where she had room given to her, there weren't made room for her to unpack her things. And even no room for her diploma to hang, only room for it under the bed. And it became so much more evident when you moved into other places after the break-up. No wonder they didn't last (aside the obvious by the end), he didn't even make room for her to move in with him. No room to grow together
