I once had the amazing experience of coming face to face with Nelson Mandela in an underground parking garage at a shopping mall as he was leaving a private event he had attended. (This was after he had completed his term as South African president ). It was late at night - and he was alone with his private secretary and his driver. I had the opportunity to see what really made him so special - and it had little to do with the determined, fighting spirit and principled leadership for which he was famous. A group of children wanted to take a photo of him - but they could not get their camera to work. Mandela spent at least 15 minutes trying to help the kids to fix the camera - because he knew how important it was for them to get the picture of him. He was endlessly patient and kind - and he saw the whole situation from the children's point-of-view and did not want to disappoint them. In the end, they could not fix the camera and he had to leave - but he left me standing there - utterly amazed ! What other world leader would have done this in these circumstances ?

Thanks for the inspiration. I loved when he stood up to Ted Copple. And his humor, the ability to laugh brings us together. The reconciliation S.Africa undertook allowed a freedom we in the U.S. should consider. Nelson Mandela - Goddess Blessed You and She's Blessed us for knowing you.... As MLK, as Malcom, as Baldwin, as R.F.K., as every man, woman, and child who speaks Truth to power, who values human rights, and fights for those rights - You've Done Us Proud. Thank You

RIght. The massive state corruption, the poverty, the misgovernance, the cadre deployment, the Eskom crisis, the water crisis, the police gang, the hatred of minorities, the racist BEE policies, the farmer murders etc etc - nothing good. His legacy indeed lives on

No. 5: 'The time for the healing of the wounds has come' - How humble must a man be to be able to forgive and reconcile after all the hardship he had to suffer from? Plus, uniting a country rather than dividing it is an ability that many current leaders should learn from.

That type of leader no longer exists in our society and it makes me sad. I challenge anyone to point to any leader at this point that could show the humility to lead as Mandela did. His wisdom and his dedication to a singular goal of freedom and unity is unparalleled. One of the most inspiring men I have ever listened to. One of my heroes.

Nelson Mandela's most inspirational, according to me, is the poem of Marianne Williamson as Nelson read when he became precident: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.….. and more

I have just started to listen to Mr. Mandela and he is excellent on all counts. He is the type of speaker whose style and demeanor make him one with his mission and that is to recognize that best quality that is Within all of us, and declare that noone should ever be treated as anything less nor limited in anyway from the promise of that innermost expression of freedom and its defining equality. By that very most profound influence all are given the chance to reach their full potential as human beings! Long live his example and his message!

A communist Mandela.Killing innocent people, like Putin is doing now. 33 Years ago today, on 23 December 1985, Andrew Zondo, a member of the ANC Youth League, placed a bomb in a dustbin at the Wimpy in the Sanlam Shopping Centre in Amanzimtoti. Five people were killed in the explosion, while another 40 were injured. The five deceased included two women and three children (one only a baby) - each and everyone a soft target.

Love them all and in particular #7. Stories draw people in, help them to focus, and if used strategically, help reiterate the importance of a message we are trying to convey. Through such mental imagery your audience will also be more likely to remember your message.
