Evander was one of the toughest guys ever to grace the ring but it was his humility that was the real mark of the man.A great role model for any kid.
@slimbrady66914 жыл бұрын
@Scott Williams Despite all that, I think he's still a pretty good role model. He didn't drink, didn't do drugs, didn't cuss, didn't get into trouble, he was soft spoken, very respectful, and super humble. Not to mention he had one of the best underdog stories ever. If I had kids, I'd have no problem if they looked up to him. There are certainly much worse athletes out there.

It's nice to hear Evander sounding so good after the long and brutal career he's had. As for facing giant heavyweights, Holy was absolutely *robbed* against Valuev (7' 310lbs) in 2008.
@calebcompton91204 жыл бұрын
He was 205lbs when he fought Riddick Bowe for the first time, that was absolutely insane. Bowe was 6ft 5, 240lbs!!

@Josip Lilić To this day I maintain that he would have won the 3rd Bowe fight if he had kept Steward as his trainer.
@slimbrady66914 жыл бұрын
@Josip Lilić Yea I think it was over money. I think Steward wanted more to train him again because he helped Holyfield get the belts back and Holyfield didn't wanna pay him. I agree, Steward was the greatest trainer of all time in my book. Died way too young.
@ThisIsHolyJJ4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. I had Holyfield winning 10 rounds... and so Valuev being given the decision is something I found absolutely absurd. I thought Holyfield beat Valuev even more clearly than David Haye did. It's crazy!
@joeblough2613 жыл бұрын
@@slimbrady6691 I LOVE Manny Steward, but I don't think the trainer had any bearing on the 3rd Bowe fight, it had everything to do with Holy having hepatitis, and having zero energy. You could see that the moments he felt good, he was out boxing the shit out of Riddick. Then he had zero energy, and still nearly knocked him out but again his energy was zapped and could barely throw a punch.

Holyfield is in my Top 3 all-time favorite fighters along with Roy Jones and Marvin Hagler. He has spectacular character, in and outside of the ring. My favorite boxing match today is still Holyfield/Tyson I, when I was 12 years old. I remember the atmosphere at that time when nobody was giving Holyfield a shot. I myself thought he was going to get beaten but I was very happy to see otherwise.

Evander's grit and determination in the ring made you think he'd win EVERY fight he'd ever fight...His resilience and poise was second to NONE...He diffused Mike Tyson and confused him too...I feel James Toney beat him because he got the watered down version of him...Would have loved to see Toney fought him sooner but the wear and tear on him was so far gone...The Lennox Lewis fight was tough and for him to have conquered him was amazing...GOD BLESS EVANDER HOLYFIELD

One of the best examples of how to be a fighter. There was a commercial a couple years back about road-rage. Some dude jumps out of his car and starts mouthing off to the car behind him...til Evander slowly gets out and stands up-got himself a leather jacket on, and the rager took one look, saw his life flash before his eyes, and calmed right down. Ken Rideout bringing up that it was said that Evander was too much man for Mike Tyson was totally unnecessary in my view. Show me a guy who is more man than Tyson! We get that Atlas and Rideout hate Mike Tyson and you can hear the disrespect in Teddy Atlas' comments about the Tyson-Jones fight (or whatever it is)..let it go.
