Holyfield and Nielsen were originally scheduled to meet on March 5, but the fight was postponed due to a cut Holyfield suffered in a bout against Sherman Williams on January 22.Nielsen mooned the audience at the official weigh-in. He said a member of the crowd had shouted that he wanted "to see my white backside." Nielsen said, "I gave it to them. It needn't be boring." This was Holyfield's last fight, but he did not officially announce his retirement until June 26, 2014.

Surprisingly entertaining fight. Holyfield was always known to be in top condition but even then, to look like that at age 48 is insane. The stoppage looked a little premature but it was only ever a matter of time because those final punches had torn Nielsen's face open and blood was streaming down. Had it continued then the next round would have probably been brutal.

True. Holmes was still in 1997 a very difficult fight. Brian was much faster back then if you compare him against Tyson in 2001. The fight is here on KZbin. Brian was never in really good shape but he was quite fast in the middle of the 90s, and very very hard to beat. And he won the bronze medal at the olympics in 1992. So of course he had the skills.

boxers are really drained when they reach 40, they get very slow and clumsy with their hands. something that i never expect lol. i mean its ok with me if their footwork gets static, but not the hands, it's like their losing connection with their neurons

So Nielsen has 10 years out the ring, comes back for 10 rounds of sparring vs old Holy in a foul filled bore fest and some how big Brian wants to mouth off about how Tyson only beat him due to head buts and that Holy was better? Really? 10 years previously Tyson, who was massively overweight, battered Nielsen, dropping him in the 3rd and made Nielsen quit after 6!! Does “super” Brian not remember the ref asking him if he was sure he wanted to quit???? Hmmmm🤔

money under the table and arranged game with the elite, of course Brian was going to lose, ,but if they hadn't stopped the fight there, I'm pretty sure that Brian would have won with a well-placed punch sooner or later. Brian didn't ask for mercy, the referee stopped all because of the money under the table.

Bit of a dirty messy fighter rarely on target but admittedly good defense, Holyfield didn’t quite have the reflexes and power to knock him out quickly at this stage, although he came close with the first knock down and might have finished Nielsen off if the ref hadn’t wasted the end of the round. An easy win overall but a pity Holyfield didn’t lay him out flat with solid dynamite slugging.🥊 🧨😵

Brian Nielsen was'nt a good boxer. In his career he had unimaginably many miserable opponents. Over 70 percent were of such poor quality that he could not avoid winning. Well, he could take a lot of punches, butt when he met Holyfield, Tyson and Holmes, they were already at the end of there carriers. In my opinion Brian Nielsen was unjustifiably idolized.
