Screw hole hack! Take scotch or painter's tape and tape over the holes, mark them fully with a pen or marker, then when you peel off the tape you have the exact layout of the holes. Slap that on the wall and then you can just drill thru the tape and then remove it after. It works best when the set is two holes, but I've made like a tape border to get the layout of a four hole set and it worked on that as well.

Dude honestly the flat looks INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! You’ve really gone all out with like all the little details matching in colour or tone or whatever it is. I could never pay that much attention to detail haha I’m much more of a embrace imperfection and throw it all together kind of guy but seriously man your place looks beautiful 🤌

@shaunsworld4302 жыл бұрын
My tip for drilling holes has already been covered IE masking tape… But deciding on paint colours its better to paint a large sheet of paper one colour and then place them against the wall, you can then remove them one at a time until you have one you like. This way the disqualified colours don’t distract you, you can also move the colours around to see what they look like in different areas and lighting. Also if you can’t decide, you just take them down and you have your original walls back…

I really think those tiles from IKEA are underrated for just making small outdoor spaces so much nicer to chill in. Great job Evan!

Last year, we bought the house we rented for 11 years. We weren't allowed to do ANYTHING even semi-permanent to the home. So, when we bought it, we started in on some HUGE, overdue projects on the outside that really needed attention. BUT! I still had this weird mindset that I couldn't touch the interior. I was standing in the bathroom, looking at the ugly medicine cabinet when it finally dawned on me . . . I can change this!!!! I don't have to keep this! I can do what I want to MY house. 😆 So, I completely understand your brain space when it comes to projects like that. You're doing a great job! Your place looks fantastic!! 👍

You can use masking tape on the back to mark the holes then stick it to the wall and you know where you need to drill. Can just drill through the tape then take it off.

Get a piece of stiff paper och thin cardboard. Draw and cut a piece using the wall-facing side of the thing you want to hang, and make sure to mark where the screw holes are on the paper. Then just take the piece of paper, align it the right way up and the right way out, and mark the holes with a sharp pencil or an awl. Remove paper, drill and hey, you're done!

2:45 If you don't have one, you need a bubble level. Yiu can get a cheap little 6-12" one. I saw you putting the tape measure across the wall, but I suspect you don't know it's level. Also can check plumb (straight up and down) Unless you're taking a bunch of measurements from the floor, in which case that's why it's taking a while. EDIT: nm, you have one at 5:19

Evan some tips for you when you DIY in a new build.... everything is made in metric, so you American will never work or fit and you should not paint any walls of a new build until a year or so have passed, you going end up with damp and other issues because the building is still drying out and finding its own level etc

Don’t paint your over the stove thing in black. You can’t go back like wood and at some point it might not look good or you get tired of it. And then the only thing you can do is buy a new one. So if you really want a black one, buy a black one and sell this one.
