Its an amazing song, really enjoy the music of Evanescence, and your reaction/analysis of the material. If you are looking for more great female voices in the rock genre, I would recommend checking out The Warning. I have recently discovered their music and they are phenomenal, you really can't go wrong with their songs. There are a couple of truly heartbreaking performance of songs called Breathe and Black Holes that are more personal, and I am sure there are others, and their rock material is sensational, I have yet to hear a song from them that I haven't loved.

ok the song to me Starts out way out and you hear sirens and stuff indicating life zooms in to her dreaming and begging to be awakened indicating a person struggling and asking for help as she sleep walks along the ledge(of life) she passes those closest to her (those in the same building)but they are so caught up in their own lives that they don't even notice what is happening to her She passes the clowns dancing and you see that they seem to be having fun but when the girl removes her mask you see that she is crying indicating how most people seem happy if you look superficially at their lives but if you look closer you will see their pain and turmoil. She sleepwalks to the person she is asking for help and they drop her when she lets go...which to me says that even if you get help...help can only work if you hang on and don't give up then at the end the people walk sadly out of the room and we fade back out showing that life continues without even noticing the drama and tragedy of that single persons life

Interestingly, this song was not supposed to have the male singer. The record label required it or Amy Lee's band wasn't going to be signed. They finally decided to sign.

I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for My Immortal, Going Under, and Broken. I agree with all of them. They are amazing Amy Lee songs. But if you want to check out some other female rock bands, look into The Warning, Halestorm, and The Pretty Reckless. I'd also throw in the collaboration between Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm on Halestorm's song Break In. Such an amazing duo with gorgeous harmonies. Speaking of harmonies, I can't recommend The Warning enough!. Three sisters that grew up on 90s rock and started a band when they were barely old enough to hold their instruments (seriously, check out bassist on KZbin when she was 9 years old). Ten years later and they are taking things by storm. They just released their fourth album and after opening for huge bands like Foo Fighters, GnR, and Muse, they're now selling out their headlining tours. The bassist is amazing. The drummer has won multiple awards from drumming magazines (and she sings lead on a good portion of their songs). And the guitarist/lead singer has a voice that rivals any of those I mention here. All three can sing and harmonize beautifully. The band is best heard live, so I'd recommend starting with their live performance of Evolve at last year's MTV VMAs. They also have a plethora of amazing performances recorded at two of their biggest concerts, Teatro Metropolitan and Pepsi Center, both in Mexico City. (I forgot to mention they're from Monterey, Mexico but are bilingual and sing almost all of their songs in English.) Halestorm has been around almost as long as Evanescence and is very well respected in the rock community. Lead singer Lzzy Hale, and her younger brother Arejay (drums) started the band in their teens and broke out with their Grammy winning single Love Bites (and so do I). Lzzy has an astounding voice that can be smooth like Amy, growl like metal, or belt like Heart. Arejay is an animal on the drum kit that loves to ham it up. I'd recommend starting with either their aforementioned Grammy song Love Bites, or I Am The Fire, or I Miss The Misery. The Pretty Reckless features the vocal talents of Taylor Momsen. Taylor was a child actor (Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch) that switched to rock singer when she became of age. Taylor's voice is smoky and sensuous. They exploded on the scene with their first hit You Make Me Wanna Die, featured in the film Kick Ass. I recommend starting with that or Goin' Down.

Amy also said they wouldn't do it if she couldn't write the part. The studio caved and Amy kind of did too which it sad. Anyone listening to Amy's voice and say, "The group would be better off with a male lead." Should never have a job in the music industry again ever. And there were studios would said it to her.

Hi. I don't think there are many live performances with this song and that pair of singers since the male singer belongs to another group called 12 Stones and was invited by the music label that promoted the album, who imposed a condition on the band to record that song. with a rapper or a new metal singer, at first they had thought about the singer of the duo Linkin Park Mike Shinoda but when he refused they chose this boy Paul Mc Coy By the way Amy Lee did not want to include a rapper in that song but in the end She accepted on the condition that she would be the one to co-write the part that the rap metal singer would have to sing.

💜🖐 Little Info for you, Emma : The female singer wanted to sing this song alone, but the Producers told her that a male singer will also sing part of the song! The singer of this band took it as an insult and she still thinks so today! She never understood that it was the breathtaking contrast between their voices, the male and female singing - that this is what makes this song so special! Emma, thank you for your perfect reaction! 🖐💜
