Well, there is not much more to say other than Amy Lee is an Angel. Not only has she an immensely powerful voice ( even after a hole concert in this case) but she is so beautiful it almost hurts to watch her. There is nobody like this woman. She is perfection!

People often mistake Evanescence's music as being depressing and dark, when the reality of it is, almost all of their music is about getting THROUGH the darkness in search of the light. No matter how dark life can be, there is always hope and you have to fight to find it. You have to CHOOSE to GET UP. Also a note on the "break your wings" part: She goes on to say "I will find a way, EVEN WITHOUT WINGS" so.. Even if my wings break, I will find a way into the light.

Loved your reaction, great interpretation from the both of you. Amy writes for her siblings a lot but two that are directly for her brother in the new Evanescence album are "Artifact" which is coupled with Broken Pieces Shine (which she started writing while crying at the airport going to her first Evanescence concert after her brother's death) and of course Far From Heaven which I know you already reacted to. Keep Evanescence reactions coming :) And on the theme on continuing to love even after so much death/hurt is "Part of Me".

I believe I read somewhere that Amy wrote the lyrics thinking about the idea of enjoying life while it lasts. She drew inspiration from a sort of carpe diem mindset. The end of the dream is a methaphore of life itself and running towards the end of it, which is death itself. Break your wings, dream and follow your heart while you still got time left. About My Immortal, I think the majority of that song was Ben S composition (co founder) and it was mainly about his grandfather. I believe Amy helped with the chorus or bridge and the whole piano behind it and so on. Again, I think I read that in some old interview. The songs she wrote for her sister were Like You and Hello. Far From Heaven from their latest record was written thinking about her brother s passing.

No about My Immortal, Ben wrote most of the words when he was in school about a fictional story. When Evanescence formed, he brought it and Amy, Ben and David reworked it. The song was not about his grandfather, it's fictional, he and Any confirmed that. Fans made that up because he wrote in the album's liner notes that he dedicated the album to his grandfather

Great reaction to a magnificent performance!! I'm not sure about why Amy wrote this song, but I've read that Amy encourages the personal interpretations that people assign to her songs. It's what gives the music it's actual power. I think that you guys have opened up some very powerful discussions on processing grief and overcoming fears that we all can appreciate and ponder. Bravo. Hello- from Fallen is for her sister that you should definitely check it out. For the chills. For the haunting, beautiful voice. Artifact/The Turn- from The Bitter Truth is about her brother. But this songs transitions beautifully into the next song “Broken Pieces Shine” which (together) tells a story of turning your broken parts Shine out instead of hiding it.
