Daru Jones is one of the most unique voices in drumming today. His unconventional approach to virtually every aspect of playing ( set up, drum cymbal sizing, interchangeable grip, etc.) is really a trip to watch. This is a great tune with a stellar groove. Watched it a few times.

The feel of the beat in the early part of the tune seems to exist somewhere between Rockabilly-Swing and I-can't-play-this.

what size bass drum is that??!!
@desperanto.11 жыл бұрын
It's quite easy to get that sound. Aim the bass drum mic towards the edge of the reso head (no hole, no muffling). Small bass drums (e.g. 16") are great for recording. I made a video with my floortom as a bassdrum: /watch?v=vX4KPzS7YQg Btw. I love this video. I don't see any problem with his technique (neither I care). His playing is tremdous, somewhere between straight and swung. Playing like that is very tricky.

Derpmuffins The Great I looked him up in the first place because I was impressed with his drumming in Lazaretto by Jack White
