I actually saw the d3 move. I think it is the first time I've seen the optimal line when a GM didn't. The line that follows is truly spectacular. I won't claim to have seen it all the way to the end, but at least I had a sense that this was the best way to go. I dream of having one day when my brain works so well that I can foresee lines like a GM.

idk man, e3 is such a visually appealing move. White is pretty much forced to trade queens and at that position exd2 is again a very visually appealing move and its clear that white cant save the queen becuase if they do black takes the rook and gets another queen. ig wesley missed that he didnt have to recapture the queen right away but again both e3 and exd2 are very appealing and both are pretty much forcing moves so its surprising a 2700+ player missed that. maybe it was time trouble

The gambit is named after the Welsh sea captain, William Davies Evans, the first player known to have employed it. The first game with the opening is considered to be Evans-McDonnell, London 1827, although in that game a slightly different move order was tried (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.0-0 d6 and only now 5.b4)

9:43 why doesnt white take on g7 for some nasty discoveries??
@VR471

Because the only nasty discovery white will make is realizing the rook on g5 covers g7.

Wish you would've went over the line Bh6 after black castled. What am I missing? Unless white feels like the bishop will be better than the rook

Can some1 who is high elo explain to me why this oppening is so loved by Agad and overall played by the best players sometimes? from my senses it looks like black is at advantage
@donquixote8462

Well, I'm not high elo (2000 online) but You just get a really solid center and you can get that queen-bishop battery going. It has some similarities to the Danish in the way the queen and bishop will often occupy the same diagonal and you can put some pressure on f7 and you can just get some shenanigans going. I think both openings are objectively bad (or just meh) at top level but in rapid sometimes people go for it. I do very well with both in bullet. As for what you say about black having an advantage, I mean, if you ask the engine pretty much whoever gambits is worse with optimal play but the idea is to make the position high pressure and sharp so your opponent has to play accurately, and you continue to make threats. That's why gambits are so common in bullet. Lots of pressure, lots of blunders.

9:19 it's black's move but there's no check and then Rxg7+, only square is h8. If black hasn't moved the N then RxN+. And if white has moved the N then Rg1+ wins the Queen and white wins. So what is black's move at 9:19? Qh5? Still drops the N.
@rockmyworldmusic

I just asked a similar question. It seems black's best move is to run with the king. Then after the rook captures the night on G6, Black could push the pawn from B5 to B4, which threatens the Bishop.

pawn h5 is blacks move.
@MrK623
@MrK623 Жыл бұрын
@@adamfarmer7665 Yes that looks good TY. But depending on time controls, black still has to find it, or white can draw or even win. Just because the material is imbalanced doesn't always mean the game is over, even at the top level.
