After listening to the lyrics in this song for years, I think that Max's friend here must have been bullied for having to go to special education. The lyrics "Contaminate him/Knock off his glasses/Teach him to tamper with the cloning process" indicates that someone is bullying his friend. "Vigilante thoughts and a cheap guitar/I am my own movie star/I don't know you and I don't want to/I don't know you and I don't want to" indicate that his friend is thinking of plotting revenge against the bullies who tormented him. "I don't know you and I don't want to" could also mean that his friend here doesn't have many friends (aside from our narrator) and that's the way he likes it. Why do schools expect all students to be the same ("One thousand faces all look the same/They're all so boring, mild, and tame")? Do they really want a boring world? If everyone was the same, the world would be boring. Differences make us who we are.
