@@Darius731 Right, I forgot about Foxy being a fashion maven there for a bit. I mostly remember her for starting that "plucked so thin they're almost gone" eyebrow trend, lol. Some girls at my school would just shave their brows off and draw them back on with a pencil. Funny how we've now done a total 180, and it's natural thick brows that are trendy.

Hands down, Eve had the best flow, cadence and delivery over any other female MC, ever imo. She puts alot of these dudes to shame and is mad underrated in the grand scheme of the hip-hop world. "Eve of Destruction" is prolly my fav track of hers and it still rotates through my playlist several times a week, but I hadnt heard this in a minute. I forgot how bad she killed this beat. Top tier presence and flow and I don't know if she wrote all her shit, but every verse was constructed so well, with subtle internal rhymes that the average listeners ears aint gonna catch. Either way, she owned this shit. Its 2024 y'all The fact I'm here saying this right now, says all you need to know.

@@sorrytothisman1496 So using your logic, anyone who isn't black can't be "gangster", even if they love the music/culture.. This is so racist even for black people - implying that they can't be anything else but gangster. The "cultural misappropriation" crowd are the most pretentious and condescending twats. There's a difference for someone to be accepted by the community (which Gwen is, otherwise she wouldn't even be rocking a Dr. Dre song) - and someone being a poser.

I remember they day this debuted on mtv . Music was so fresh during this time. Rap was changing from what it was in the 90s into the 2000s. From 98to 01 the industry underwent a major makeover and it was awesome. The game was still recovering from the deaths of pac and big. And within a 3 year period dre released his new album. Eminem blew up. Dmx blew up. Nelly blew up. Ludacris blew up. Fabolous blew up. Ja rule was doing big shit. Jay z was cementing his legacy even further. Mystikal was with snoop master p and c murder at no limit. Lil wayne birdman mannie fresh were starting the super flashy lifestyle of money bling fast cars women as the cash money millionaires. 3 6 mafia was becoming even bigger down south. Outkast dropped one of their hottest albums to date. The ruff Ryder's movement was exploding all over. People dont understand how important this time was to the genre of hip hop

The smooth blend of Eve’s confident flow and Gwen’s catchy hook creates the perfect laid-back vibe. Dr. Dre’s production is flawless, and the song’s message of empowerment and self-assurance is a live today. Eve’s lyrical skill shines here, proving why she’s one of the most respected female rappers in the game!

Dre is definitely the 🐐 but in this particular song the beat is heavily sampled from Dre's track "The Message" which was produced by Lord Finesse.

Female rappers of today should follow Eve's blue-print for success: 4 albums of sheer talent, film and television credits, numerous music awards including a Grammy and just being an A+ class act all the way. She didn't have to show T&A on her album covers to move units. People bought her albums because she had skills with the the wordplay, she gave the appearance that she was more chill than your mom's fridge and she exhibited a style that is unique even by today's standard which made her standout against her counterparts at the time. She's the kinda chick you want to invite to every party.

@@silentlyberrys9569 There's still a bunch of lyrical female rappers, they just aren't as mainstream as they used to be and you have to dig a little to find them. Some of the most popular ones right now are Tierra Whack, Rico Nasty, Rhapsody, Noname, Princess Nokia, and a bunch of others that I have forgotten or don't know yet. Even still some rappers that do talk about their bodies are still good lyricists like Kash Doll (who often tells stories in her raps) and Megan the Stallion.
