Note for anyone actually going to do exploring. Do not use a cruiser as shown in this video. Cruisers have a much higher align time, by which the enemy could lock you and warp scramble you, and then you would be guaranteed dead. Also the frigates have scanning bonuses which mean you will have access to higher level sites with much better loot. Also the cruisers are 20 mil plus, which means if you die the cost is much greater than a frigate, about 1 mil with the fitting.

Nice guide, exactly what I was looking for as a beginner to exploration, but you may want to consider writing a script beforehand and reading it out for a better flow of information.

One note I'd make: as someone who is no stranger to ganking, don't go in Battleship or Battlecruiser. We see a BC or especially a BB, our reaction is more to the tune of "that's a juicy target, let's get a cyno and a few friends on grid and kill it" than "oh better not fuck with that". The longer you stay, the more likely a BB or BC will get noticed. Cruiser is really the sweet spot of not high enough value and not conspicuous enough to be interested in you. I personally recommend a frig but to each their own I suppose.

People kill exploration frigates all the time though don't they? I thought it didn't really matter what you went in, the point was not being seen at all.

I'm sure you'll cover this in your Null Sec exploration video, but I'd like to put it out here in case any newer players might be interested. Noise filaments will take you to a random null sec system that has little activity. There is a Signal variant, but that'll take you to a place with more activity. Useful for fights if that's what you are looking for. After you're done with your exploration, you can use a Pochven filament to escape null. There is a 15-minute timer, so bring a cloak or practice making and jumping between safes, then you can use the Devana filaments to jump to a random HS/LS system. Yes, it can put you out upwards of 40 jumps from a trade hub, but in my experience, I never jumped more than a dozen times before getting to a trade hub. It won't always be Jita, but Dodixie and Amarr aren't that bad. Further, you can always contract PushX or Red Frog to move all of your loot to Jita if you really want to. They're reasonably priced and you get to avoid potential ganks while traveling with a yummy cargo hold into a trade hub. I did this for several months during which time I got into contact with Brave and decided to make Null a part time home. As for ending up in LS, that can happen. It happened to me 2 times and both times it was in quiet systems with not far to go to get to HS. Again, if you're skittish and don't want to risk your loot, you can contract it out to courier services. I think Black Frog handles LS. It sounds complicated, but once you've done it a couple times it's really quite easy. Yes, the loot is better in WH, but you have to deal with Sleepers and the potential for the hole to be occupied and for the occupants to chase you for an hour to kill you. Not kidding, it has happened to me. lol

Alternatively, Theta wormholes are usually barely camped and much more accessible (usually 30 jumps or less) than Pochven - however, you do have to make your way through null which could be dangerous if you don't have a cloak/WCS/nullifier. Personally, my gripe with wormholes is that the scanning takes forever, you always have to seek out new wormholes, you can't see who's in the system, and half the time you end up with unsafe exploration sites anyway (for pure hacking)...

Good advice. Always use a cruiser. Preferably a faction or T3 one with lots of the best modules on it. ISK tank best tank. Guaranteed you will be left alone.

Yes, fitting officer and deadspace mods almost guarantees you are left alone and safe.

I disagree with the logic that people will not agress if you are in a cruiser. They align and warp slower than a frigate. T1 exploration frigates are so cheap and you can easily dump your loot in kspace connections so if you die not much value is lost. The scan and hacking bonuses also save time which means less time on site and vulnerable. Some people do hacking in an interceptor since they are pretty slippery.

you have to go in through the EVE logo on top. The ship tree logo isnt there by default, you will have to add it

The only one cruiser used for exploration is the Stratios, other are shit to do that. Prefer T2 covops or Astero

the point of using non-explorer ships for exploration is not necessarily a bad one, but survival during exploration (especially in low, null, or wormholes) is not a matter of brute force or foolish expenditures of ISK. were it just you doing this during your own game, it be a different thing; but suggesting this to your less-than-savvy intended audience: shame on you...
