This is the first 5 minutes of a fight that went for 20 hours... I was there. Eve is real. Nothing like watching a titan get alpha'd off field with DoomsDays. After that we were much more careful not to overkill on the DD cycles. And yes the dreads were DD fit to tank EM and Therm damage from Avatar and Erebus DD's for the jump into system. And no you can't remote rep a Dread in siege so logi guys can't help much Valathe.

just encase people don't understand why it's a big deal for titans to die, this is it. to make a titan hull it would take a whole corp (it's not a one man job) avg about 30 people playing the game 3-5hr aday, now it would take at least 150days to actually make the dame thing. each of the titans dying every single one of them was made by players, now think about what it means to a corp when one dies, and 75 died that's about 30years of hard work divided by many corps gone in 1day. (this is not even counting how long it take to make it's equipment).

The issue I found emik. Was that the ship requirements would change and thereby erase months of research but was fine for those with them all. But maybe I was in the wrong corp/alliance? Was always getting shi t for low range or speed or wrong ship (T2 requirements etc) Was not fun.

PLN3 initially made an enormous mistake wasting their DDs on Dreadnoughts/carriers. The CFC understood from the get-go after the Battle of HED-GP that the only thing that works in those high tidi situations is Titan DDs. So, they started with DDing titans instead.

Eve is one of those games that its easy and awesome to read about it but to actually would bore most people

Depends on your playstyle. If you find the most enjoyment out of battles like this, then the fights are few and far between and filled with periods of waiting on the order of days, weeks, months. If you love the moderate sized engagements of only a few dozen, it's less waiting, but still can be hours of waiting. Solo and small gangs can run into trouble constantly.

The thing is most people who read about the battles and attempt to try out Eve don't actually get into the adrenaline filled part of Eve which is the PVP. Even small scale fights or 1 v 1 duels can make you have an adrenaline rush.

Ulvis Barkāns Pretty true. There are ways around that though. Even in large battles you can win with a weaker tank. You can look at Rooks and Kings' Clarion Call series of narrated videos for an example. They won several large battles without out-tanking the enemy.

EVE is a game for those with patience and who love complex systems, if you have the patience you can enjoy not just the best MMO but the best GAME ever made. Anyone who has gotten through the few months of noobdom and they will agree. I've been playing for 2 years and I still have so much to learn, ask someone who's been playing for 5 years and they will say the same. Leviathans (Caldari Titans) were on field, but not one died. They don't don't fit the armor doctrine that was popular at the time and there was not many there. However they can mount a truly terrifying amount of shield buffer, and could be used to waste enemy doomsday shots. The fact the not one of them died either stands as a testament to how tough they are or more likely the opposing forces were fully aware that shooting one was not a priority. If you only can fly a Leviathan and there is a battle like that with an armor doctrine you better still bring it, after all it does still have a doomsday, a LOT of buffer tank and hell it can probably escape since it won't be 1 shot(most likely.)

The doomsday shots are spectacular but you can see the difference in coordination. PL/N3 are shooting at multiple targets with their doomsdays but CFC is correctly concentrating titan fire on one enemy titan at a time. I was wondering why PL's titan losses where so dramatic, this to me is a clue why. S lyogkim parom bebbeh.

CoyotePicante PL made the call to kill CFC dreadnaughts, which would have been able to volley a titan every 30 seconds, however, due to the heavy TiDi those dreads couldn't cycle their guns properly, if at all. Had those guns cycled properly, getting rid of those dreadnaughts would have been the right call...

You can see how uncordined the titans of the PL/N3 were shoting, each one to a dif target, and at different times, while the RUS/CFC almost all shoot at the same target at the same time, thats what i call a good FC!

that's because they were firing on dreads which are normally one shot by titans DD. It's understandable because in a normal fight it would be faster to eliminate dreads to reduce the weight of fire on the other side. In this fight however the escalation reached the point where the system was at 10% tidi and the CFC fleet commanders were finessing the node by holding drones so that it was constantly on the edge of collapse. In this situation the time dilation causes the dreads fire to be much more sporadic and the titans become your primary damage dealers. The CFC FC's were expecting this and primaried titans right off the bat, after the first few volleys they started trading more or less equally for awhile but it was already too late.

"all ships stand still" WOW! nope.. those Titans are 13 to 18 km long ship which is really huge and they are not moving that fast.. there are smaller ships from dozens of meters to few kilometers long which flying around.. orbitting bombing shooting with rail guns, missiles, nuke and many more which you cant really see compared to those big titans.

Most of the maneuvering is happening in surrounding solar systems as each side works to block their enemy's reinforcements while simultaneously securing their own. During this battle, there were *tons* of smaller fleet engagements happening in all of the nearby systems. Something else to consider is that not every system is exposed to the same amount of time dilation, so the fights in the surrounding areas are happening much faster. They are also usually done with smaller ships and are jumping around multiple systems catching enemies wherever they can as they attempt to return to the fight. Maintaining security over your jump gate networks during these battles is important, so you need to deploy more fleets to do so.

Keep in mind, this whole fight is in 10% TiDi(see below), so everything takes x10 longer than normal. Timeline: 0:00 Capitals are already deployed, RUS/CFC on "top" and N3/PL on "bottom". Dreadnoughts are exchanging shots(the beams extending from one fleet to the other are the most visible, but there are also projectiles from massive artillery cannons and blasters). You can see a flashing yellow spider-like chain extending across N3/PL's forces - those are either capacitor links between carriers(keeping their energy high) or large repair systems handling the incoming damage. There's a cluster of repair beams focused on one of the forward dreadnoughts, which is probably the current RUS/CFC target. 0:05 Supercapitals(supercarriers and titans) start warping in - the red flashes signify their appearance. You can see the notably larger ships compared to the current capitals on field. Some time passes from their warp-in until they actually start firing, because it takes a while for a ship to "lock" another. 1:00 You can see the first doomsday being charged up(the green light a bit outshone by more warpins, within N3/PL's fleet) - it's the Aurora Ominae doomsday from an Erebus, the Gallente titan. There are four factions in EVE online, and each faction has its own style of titan. Alliances aren't really limited by which faction ship to use, so you'll see plenty of variety here. Keep in mind, due to TiDi, only 6-7 seconds of "actual game time" have passed - most dreadnoughts are probably still reloading! This is incidentally the time it takes a titan to lock a capital ship, so the first shot is actually coming out very quickly. 1:04 A fairly small looking ship(a 3000 meter length Gallente Moros dreadnought) is hit by the first blast, and survives. Generally, most capital ships will be wiped out by a single doomsday hit, but specifically fitted dreadnoughts can survive one. N3/PL's strategy seems to be to eliminate as many of the dreadnoughts as they can, to limit the sustained DPS of the RUS/CFC fleet. 1:04 - 1:30 A couple more doomsdays hit various dreadnoughts in the RUS/CFC fleet, with most of the dreadnoughts seemingly surviving. 1:28 You can see either a Ragnarok or a Leviathan charging their doomsday on the top-left of the RUS/CFC fleet - both of those titans shoot "projectile"-like doomsdays(swarms of missiles) instead of the beam doomsdays of the Avatar/Erebus. 1:30 The finishing doomsdays of N3/PL's first volley hit a couple more dreadnoughts, with little success. RUS/CFC titans are charging up their first volley. 1:42 A RUS/CFC Amarr Avatar titan blazes the primary target for the fleet - a Gallente Erebus-class titan, visible around the middle of N3/PL's pack. 1:48 - 1:52 You can clearly see projectile-based doomsdays shot from the RUS/CFC fleet heading towards N3/PL - one hits a dreadnought, and the other seems to hit the primary target. The explosion is just the hit effect from the projectile doomsday. 1:52 Several more doomsday beams at the primary target coincide with a dreadnought volley - you can get a feeling for how slowly "actual game time" is passing, since it seemed like the dreadnoughts weren't shooting for a while now. At 1:55, you can see one of the missile doomsdays hitting in a massive explosion. 2:20 The big explosion is just another (Ragnarok or Leviathan?) doomsday hitting. N3/PL titans are methodically targeting more and more dreadnoughts, all of them surviving the first blasts. 2:30 The primary target manages to fire off its doomsday into a dreadnought, which survives. RUS/CFC fleet reports all its dreadnoughts should be specifically fitted to survive titan doomsday attacks, because of the threat N3/PL titans have posed in the past(more below). 2:52 You can see a warp disruption bubble pop up, the sign of activity from the subcapital support. From this angle, it's unclear what the bubble was actually targeted at. 3:07 On the right, you can see an Amarr Avatar charging up its doomsday, for the final volley of the video. 3:22 Five more doomsdays are focused on the primary target, the beams creating a mini supernova around it. This is all the Erebus can take. 3:33 The Erebus collapses with a crackle of blue energy, suddenly exploding in a red hot blaze, sending a visible ripple through space on the N3/PL side. This is the titan "first blood", at 16 pm game time. The fight continues for another ~19 hours, all the way to 11 am the next day, when regular server downtime cuts off the last struggles. The video shows just the opening volleys for the bloodiest battle in EVE's history. There are a few more things you can make note of from the footage: The N3/PL fleet has warp disruption bubbles scattered all over it, while there are none on the RUS/CFC side. This usually means the RUS/CFC fleet is the aggressor(as they're the ones trying to keep N3/PL from warping away). While I doubt the N3/PL fleet would keep having no bubbles on the RUS/CFC one, they definitely didn't have full coverage - a number of RUS titans were reported managing to warp away at a sliver of hull. You can see a bunch of warp disruption bubbles scattered on the top left - evidence of fleet maneuvers before the showdown. EVE combat in TiDI happens very, very slowly. Dreadnought guns cycle at around 5-8 seconds, which means you actually only see each dreadnought fire 4, maybe 5 times in this video. The doomsdays you see being used will actually recharge in over an hour and a half(10 minutes of "actual game time") - managing targets becomes of utmost priority. More information: TiDi - When big fights happen, a game mechanic called "Time Dilation"(TiDi) kicks in to help the server with the load. TiDi goes up to 10%, that is, everything takes x10 longer - 10 seconds of video footage/play time equal one second of "actual game time"(what you would have under normal circumstances). This means that the video is actually < 30 seconds of "actual game time" - a tiny part of the whole battle, just a few opening volleys and the first titan kill. Visible ships - At the given zoom level, the ships you can see are ALL capitals. The smaller ships are likely all carriers and dreadnoughts, the slightly bigger ones are supercarriers, and the most visible ones are titans. Ship roles - At this battle size, ships have very rigid roles. Subcapital fleets handle support roles, like applying the warp disruption bubbles which prevent you from leaving the fight, and harassing carriers with energy neutralizing modules. Carriers are fitted with repair modules, essentially taking the roles of a "healer". Dreadnoughts siege up, and supercarriers deploy fighter bombers, both providing massive, consistent DPS. Titans also provide some DPS, but their "crown jewel" is the doomsday weapon. Doomsday weapons hit for a shattering amount of damage, but have a substantial cooldown - 10 minutes. They're used to (usually) wipe out a capital ship in a single shot, or even take down a titan in a large enough volley. Fleet strategy - The basic strategy for both fleets is fairly similar - focus fire on a single ship(to limit the effectiveness of repairs), with dreadnoughts and fighter-bombers providing consistent dps, and titans serving the big hits with doomsdays. The N3/PL fleet prioritized taking out dreadnoughts first - you can see all of their shots being scattered around, trying to take out the smaller ships. Having fought N3/PL's titans in the past, RUS/CFC dreadnoughts were almost universally equipped to withstand a doomsday hit, necessitating a second doomsday or dps from N3/PL's dreadnoughts and supercarriers to finish them off. RUS/CFC focused titans immediately, scoring the first blood. While focusing dreadnoughts is, on paper, a good strategy(they do comparatively high damage for their hp), experience in massive battles had shown RUS/CFC a different picture. As the fight started, the server staggered under the load, even with TiDi, and started acting strangely - guns would cycle without firing, modules would take forever to turn on, and so on. These problems hampered dreadnought efficiency, and left the fire-and-forget doomsdays as the prominent way to deal damage. Eventually, the server managed to catch up with the load and dreadnoughts were handling reasonably well, but by that time the RUS/CFC forces had solidified their titan advantage. In the end, all the important factors weighed for the RUS/CFC coalition. They had superior numbers, they had multiple subcapital fleets blocking off reinforcements, and they focused titans early. The fight started fairly even, but eventually N3/PL started losing the "doomsday battle", and the more titans they lost, the less they could trade back. wow, amazing explanation man thanks man, gj. Like this guys explanation guys so everyone can see that doesnt understand EVE. I wonder why N3/PL didnt bubble CFC/RUS also, you said a few of their titans just got away with a sliver of health, i can imagine thats a major mistake. Also, you would have thought N3/PL would have known to go for titans first as well, knowing dreadnoughts arent as effective from TiDi (i still dont see why, they actually miss and arent much effective just because of this time slow?) and/or just cause titans are the most DPS by far, maybe they didnt see the threat because of the long cooldowns, and/or maybe it would have been fine if the dreadnoughts got one-shot like they apparently planned, in the first place. But after the dreadnoughts survived the first DD or 2, youd think at the very least they would then focus maybe 2 or 3 DD's on one dreadnought each time instead of single targeting still. N3/PL lost like almost 60 titans, and CFC/RUS only lost like 20? There was definitely more that CFC/RUS must have done right, maybe control of the zone/sector or something, props to them i guess. Whiskiz Yo I'm guessing N3/PL couldn't compete for bubble coverage because RUS/CFC had a big numerical advantage, especially in subcapital ships. I edited the text about server load a bit to clarify why dreadnoughts were having problems. Remember that what you're seeing here is titan pilots executing the first orders they were given, only 30 seconds of "actual game time" elapsing from the start of the video to the end. N3/PL pretty quickly changed their focus to titans, but they just didn't have the numbers to pull through. There's another 19 hours of fight not depicted here. The DD salvo was epic, especially since it lined up with the music :)

PL/NC side forgot to pay the bill for the star system sovereignity status so the status got dropped, hence RUS/CFC come try to take the system. But PL/NC side cant let it happen because the system are I believe their staging system on the region, in real life you can say like the capital. There are so many PL/NC ships "parking" on the system's station, if RUS/CFC own the system they wouldnt be able to take the ships back. Because they will be shoot on sight. So.. i think thats all?

I wonder if part of N3/PL's loss had partly to do with the fact that they were shooting dreads with their dooms days at the start. Where CFC/RUS went strait for the Erebus. Cause I don't think any of those dreads actually died when they got shot.

Yes, that is actually why they lost, the FC for the CFC knew it was going to be a shitstorm and knew he had enough titans on the field to doomsday enemy titans off the field.

DD's not sure what that is, if i was at evefest my question to him would of be "at what point that ti di pass the advantage to titans, and if they kept killed your Dreads's, would it pass the advantage back to them cause they wiped enough Dreads, and ti di calmed down.. *my problem is, i've never experienced ti di to know
