This song is so awesome, if you listen carefully each phrase, it has a deep psychological meaning describing each of Evelyn's personalities, each trait, each feature, and how can 2 people share the same identity, having so much differences between them. Evelyn (Amanda) is cheerful, caring, dependant. While Evelyn (Jason) is more egoistical and wants to be alone. "Why do we bother to stay? Why are you running away?", it was in the period when they escaped from the circus. "Don't you feel like severing?", Evelyn (Jason) feels the injuries that happen when cojoined sisters move independently and their flesh gets damaged. "You’re always trying to be somebody else", Evelyn (Jason) doesn't want Evelyn (Amanda) to change in any way. She (Jason) thinks that they should both look the same, as Evelyn Evelyn is one identity. But Evelyn (Amanda) is more feminine and wants variety more than Evelyn (Jason) who (I think) could have been a boy in normal circumstances. That might be the reason she (Jason) has a shorter temper than her sister. And in the end, they sing separately, eventually joining into a single chant, as accepting their destiny / the only way they can go on.

This is such a deep song. Evelyn (Jason) keeps on bringing up the fact that she doesn't want to be attached to her sister "Dont you feel like severing." "Why do we bother to stay?" They bring up multiple events that happen to them "we grew up so very close." Conjoined twins "shared our bed..." they had to "'what if they find us?' 'They aren't looking anyway.'" Worried about the chicken man not finding them "'I want to be famous.' 'They are watching us anyway.'" The circus "'all that I want is some time to myself.'" Evelyn (Jason) wants to split. Evelyn doesn't want to. That is what the big fight is about.

Evelyn, Evelyn, Why do we bother to stay? Why are you running away? Don’t you feel like severing? Everything’s just come together at last. It’s broken, I don’t want to play. We grew up closer than most. Closer than anything, closer than anything. Shared our bed and wore the same clothes. Talked about everything, spoke about so many things. What shall we wear tonight? What shall we eat today? Can we go ice skating? But we just did that yesterday. Should we be firemen? Can we be astronauts? What if they find us? They’re not looking anyway. Fill my glass, let’s drink a toast. This is our birthday, so why are we weeping? At your side, I feel like a ghost. I wake up first, and I stare at you sleeping. What shall we wear tonight? What shall we eat today? Do you think I should marry him? But we just met him yesterday. Should we be movie stars? Will we be millionaires? I want to be famous. They're watching us anyway. We grew up so very close. A parasite needs a host. I’m only trying to do what is best for us. Well, I never asked for this, I never wanted this. All that I want is some time to myself. Looking in your eyes, I’m coming home. Just get away from me, please just stop touching me. You’re always trying to be somebody else. Now I realize I’m not alone. Well, you’re only scared of me. But you never cared for me. Why don’t you let me free? ‘Cause you’d never dare to be. ‘Cause you never listen, you’re always insisting. (I’m just/just stop) reminiscing, I feel something missing. I just want (you here with me/my privacy), God (can’t we just get along/won’t you leave me alone)?

What if this song wasn't about conjointed twins, but about someone struggling with their mental illness
@solliciteagere8712 жыл бұрын
If you listen very carefully, you can tell that this song represents Evelyn's so many sufferings. They grew up closer than anyone but they didn't always want to be together. If one of them likes a man and the other one doesn't one of them always have to suffer. As it says that a parasite needs a host, one of them thinks that the other one is the host while they think that they themselves are the parasite. They cannot make their decisions separately as one of them cannot agree. Having the same body also makes them seem like freaks to others. "Do you feel like severing" shows just how much they were burdened with each other. "Why don't you let me free, cause you'd never dared to be," But regardless of this, they cannot sever as they share the same body and will die if they do so. One always has to depend on the other, and they only share one liver in all. If one is weaker than the other and if one of them suffers, the other one has to as well. Since they were conjoined, they cannot achieve many things no matter how much they want to (billionaires, astronauts, or famous as people will look down on them.) If you read their backstories it gets even worse. (spoilers) "What if they find us" represents the people taking advantage of them as they grew up. They were sent to a circus and treated like freaks. They grew up locked in a cage with chickens. And after the chicken man that took care of them died, they were taken to a place where "old uncles came to visit their nieces", in other words, they were also entertainment for old men (I think you know what this means). They've lost everyone (Including their parents and every kind person/thing they've met along the way) except for their other halves. They've stayed with each other so much as to the point they get sick of it. Edit after 10 months: I decided to explain some things I noted while listening to this a few more times since I felt like I wasn't covering the stuff as much as I would like 😅 (this is just from my own observations, and I didn't write them out exactly clearly, so I'm sorry if you get confused when reading this last part) Every single lyric in the song is written about them conversing, and telling each other their feelings, asking about the other's input. The song starts with them calling out to each other, "Evelyn, Evelyn" first softly talking, as though one was trying to talk to the other, while the other is being reluctant. At some point, you hear the other Evelyn trying to approach the first Evelyn that called out to them and the first Evelyn being reluctant. They give the same response. This feels like one of them is always trying to comfort the other, while the other is always feeling upset or thinking negatively (but there are no specific roles. They position shifts because they both have these moments/days that they are trying to comfort the other while the other feels upset). It almost sounds as if the one trying to make things more positive becomes more upset as they hear the other talking about the negative things in their life. This happens a few time over the course of the song, and they start shouting at each other. There is a bit of silence, then at the last part, they start calling out to each other desperately as though they are afraid, yet while hearing the other's voice, becomes seemingly reassured. The song talks about severing, but severing also considers the subject of death. But the ironic thing is that we don't actually know if they are talking about their willingness to separate in hopes of a more unrestrained life even if there is high chance of death, or if they are talking about severing just so that they themselves would die and let the other free. It could be either, or both. The entire song is written in a manner that would seem like the Evelyns are having a childish conversing and fighting with each other, but it is a tragedy story written underneath. They yell at each other, sometimes angry because of the other that they would have to live such a terrible life, but at the same time, so afraid that the other would be gone because they were the only people that each other had (remember, they were the only ones that could tell each other everything, didn't have any privacy from each other to the point where it becomes unsatisfying, yet if the other was cut away from them, all of their secrets, happiness, and pain would also be cut away and disappear forever). So after the yelling, there is a silence, and then quietly, they call out to each other again, eager to hear the other (but then falling into despair after hearing the other at the same time), and perhaps afraid of the silence. This is such a contradictory song.

It also reminds me of Clara and Mia from Franbo and how they would argue and blame everything on each other. They were twin sisters who were experimented on and sown together. And I learned that Nazi’s use to do awful experiments on Twins and would even sew them together turning them into conjoined twins. Another reason why this song gets to me.

I’ve liked this song for a long time now, and it reminds me of two things. 1. The twins from Fran bow, for obvious reasons. 2. I've always liked this song because it's sort of cute and funny with the puns, but on the other hand it's kinda heart breaking. It must actually be quite hard to be a conjoined twin or in any state where you feel you need independence from a relationship but can't get it.

This song reminds me of my relationship with my sister. We used to get along perfectly when she was younger, but now she’s become self-centered and vindictive towards me, she’s always angry. She doesn’t seem to understand that her constant outbursts are destroying my mental health, and that using her own mental health as an excuse doesn’t mean she gets to hurt me without consequences. We used to share a room, until our older sister moved out, and it was like a huge weight had been lifted off my chest as I realized I could finally have my own space. Now, I can’t be around her without feeling on edge and terrified of her having another outburst over something stupid. Whenever she talks to me normally, I feel the urge to get away because of how she makes me feel trapped, and if I ask her to leave she treats me like I’m a horrible person because she isn’t CURRENTLY trying to hurt me, even though she is almost all the time she’s near me. On top of all of this, she’s younger than I am by two years, so I have to constantly be the bigger person and put up with her constant insults and destructive tendencies. It’s so exhausting to live right now, and somehow this is exactly what it feels like, even though we’re not even twins.

I guess it’s about to same but with conjoined twins where they used to absolutely love each other but they are grow apart and think separate things while one wants to marry a guy the other has to remind her they just met the guy the day before

I actually always pictured that intense part of the song the way Chiara portrayed it: a heartbreaking story told elegantly with symbolisms. The animation is so simple but it fits the characters so well. The last part where everything is sewn back together adds so much more meaning to the song. I simply love the mood of the whole video it conveys so many emotions. Every single frame of this animation is a masterpiece. Awesome job, Ms. Ambrosio :)

It's about conjoined twins who want to be apart but are afraid to leave eachother, and on their birthday they're lamenting their life.

hanacat1000 Hmmm, thank you for the feed-back. ^-^ But I actually was wondering what a more precept like meaning would be for the story it's self.

+HeartlessArmed Zekrom Its about two girls who are conjoined twins and one wants to run off but the other wants them to stay close
@cheeseycheese9899 жыл бұрын
HeartlessArmed Zekrom the story is about twins conjoined at birth. They were raised brutally and met many who mistreated them. Yes, the two wish to be seperated, but not because they despise each other, simply because the mistreatment. Look up the tragic events by the song artists. There is 3 parts. It is the story of their life. Listen to it if you wish to acknowledge their story.

Edgelord McNippleTwist Sorry, I know your comment was about a year ago; but if you're still interested, there's another song on this album called "The Tragic Events". It basically explains the entire (albeit fictional) backstory of the characters Evelyn and Evelyn Neville.

I relate to this song a lot. I feel like im the male voice, my brother being the female voice. We are siblings, always trying to get along. Usually i would want time to myself, being unsocial and i don’t want him in my room. I put a hole in my walls due to me having it with him, hes always trying to make sure whats best for me, but i just wanted time to myself.

Honestly this is how I feel a lot of the times: i just want to escape myself, to not be with myself, but it's impossible. It's the same frustration, they can hate each other but they can't just leave. So I guess... In the end acceptance and love makes life better with things you can't control...
