I was born in 1973. White father/ Black mother. My father introduced me to his style of music and my mother introduced me to hers. This was 1982 and Thriller blew this out of the water. I was too young to appreciate it. My mother used to play this alllllll the time on our "hi-fi stereo" with Patrice Rushen, Earth Wind & Fire, Cameo etc. This brings back so many memories of my mother asking me to dance with her. I now keep EVERY SINGLE SONG I come across now. Even if I hate them. I have been collecting since the 80's and digitizing all the music. I have over 150,000 MP3s now.

Happiest Heavenly birthday 🎂 Uncle Kenny who used to drive me to school with his knees while combing his naps....my mom was just mentioning the album he bought me. Turn on your heart light by Neil Diamond because ET was my favorite movie and that song was my fav 😍 ✨️His favorite song 🎵 was by Evelyn "Champaign" King LOVE COME DOWN. He would blast it and sing it loud. One of my favorite uncles who treated me more like a daughter than his neice. I lived with him during toughest time of my childhood but he made it bright by being the best father figure ever. May he RIH. He bought my 1st gold earrings ✨️ and took me to see ET and bought me several books💛 He was one of a kind 😇 Gone too soon. He only spoiled me because he knew my mom was sick and I had no parents during that time. He stood in the gap for me and protected me from child protective services. Thanks abundantly Uncle Kenny 😘 ❤️ 🙏🏾 Please give him his flowers.....💐 *RIH Uncle Kenneth Wayne McGinnis 💙🙏🏾

As much as I love the song, I love the video even more. A beautiful, feminine woman of African descent wearing her natural hair and being adored by a man of African descent. What happened? We went from beautiful images like this to the nonsense that I am seeing being passed off as ''Black music'' these days.

Rock & Soul '95,well said👏👏I was a Teenager Lady in the 1980s. Lady Evelyn Champagne King, she was very Elegant and she had us dancing to all of her hit Gem Songs. Thank goodness that I was in the Era of the 1970s and the earlier 1980s to see first hand of the Elegant Days. I love your Profile Picture. Rest In Sleep Mr.Michael Jackson, you are truly missed😔

I washed my hair today, put a flower in it and at 4pm I heard snatches, couldn’t remember any of this song and FINALLY at 8:39 pm I started to sing the song and came to find the video. They don’t make sweet jams like this any more 🌺

The music is groovy, with a funky bassline, disco-style drums, and catchy synth hooks. Evelyn "Champagne" King's vocals are on point, she sings with such passion and emotion, it just draws you in.

She could have been bigger but it was very hard for R & B Singers like her, Stephanie Mills and God knows how many others to cross over. None of My White Friends knew who she was. She was discovered as a Cleaning Lady at RCA where she and her mother were working. She was singing along to the Radio and an executive heard her and the rest is history.
