I know the team isn’t all the way “there” yet but if we don’t beat Cal by at least 14 I’d be worried. At home to a full crowd with far more talented and cohesive team than last season PLUS the new helmet comms which should give a huge advantage to a great Xs and Os type coach like Freeze…. Obviously anything can happen when the opponent isn’t a slouch but I’d be disappointed if it isn’t a 14+ point win. The talent and coaching and every other advantage is there for this game.

UC Davis looked like a much better team than the Alabama A&M squad. Execution was there on offense. Guys on defense know how to line up and tackle. Can't say the same for Cal cuz i saw an awful lot of alligator arms. Auburn should win this game. Don't expect a blowout. Just hope to see a disciplined team line up and execute like they are supposed to do.

I 100% agree. We are going to find out more about PT this week and vs Arkansas and Oklahoma. If PT of last year shows up, then Hugh needs to pull the rip cord....cautiously optimistic.

New Mexico State his numbers are actually not bad the defense couldnt stop them... and Texas A&M was the first SEC game on the road in a new system with dudes living in the backfield as soon as the ball was snapped. He and the O line gonna get another shot at them too so don't worry.

My take on this game starts with Jordan-Hare. I can’t believe Cal is gonna come in there guns blazing converting 3rd downs and moving the football. If they don’t, Auburns gonna jump on them early and potentially bury them in points. If they fall behind, Ott becomes a non factor and all the pressure shifts on Mendoza. Cal needs to be methodical and play keep away. The more 3 yards and a cloud of dust football they can play, the longer they can hang around and have a shot to win the game. I don’t think Cal can do what they need to and this goes very sideways leading to a blowout.

@@thomasdickey1397 I only watched the first half so far and the UC Davis QB was hitting his guys in tight windows, contested coverage, and they were executing catching the ball. He by no means looked awful in that half and he looked every bit the part of an experienced senior QB. Having said that Thorne has already proved he can play at a high level no matter how many so called fans wanna pretend it never happened. And back then he wasn't even really using his legs so that's a really underrated aspect of his game he's still not getting credit for. If you put the UC Davis QB on last year's Auburn team I bet he would have looked worse than last week and if you put him on this year's Auburn team I bet he'd have been distributing that ball like Thorne was last week. Context matters.
