The Koch brothers don't exactly not spend a lot to help people. They have a foundation that has donated over $1.5 billion for various causes. I give credit to Bill for spending at a loss to clean up fraudulent wine sellers, probably knowing full well he wasn't going to recoup the costs. Good to see you guys back. Nice couch for all the pets you got!

Yeah politics get people ornery and these guys support alot of free market inititatives and are outspoken conservatives. However as you mentioned they also lead the pack of the 'Ultra rich" by far with how much they donate to things like Cancer research and providing clean water and food for people that don't have the infrastructure in 3rd world country. Out of all the billionaires these old guys are actually the least supervillain like ones.

"Cause that's what the world needs!" To be fair, it's HIS money. Did he tell you what to use your money on? I hate this outlook from people. Guy donated a lot to charity as well, but that's not what the story was about so it wasn't brought up. Do I think that the distribution of wealth in this country is heavily weighted and unfair? Yes. Am I gonna get mad at a guy spending his personal money on stopping thieves and con artists? No. Not even if it's thieves and con artists in an area that I don't have a personal investment in.

The Koch family did some pretty shady stuff. They spend hundreds of millions every election in the U.S. to influence politics directly, mostly for libertarian and conservative causes. Spending a couple hundred thousand on their high-class hobby is chump change compared to the amount of money they use to further their acquisition of power and influence. There is a documentary called Koch Brothers Exposed. While not all of the accusations leveled in the documentary could be verified, others remained standing, like the Koch families attempts to cut social security legislation and attempts to lower the minimum wage in multiple states. It's a messed up world when some chump on youtube vigorously defends some of the most powerful, influential and wealthy people that do everything to amass more of these things at the cost of regular folks. They don't care about you and would sell you for a quick buck if they could. Don't defend them.
@haku8135Ай бұрын
Wine collecting isn't exclusive to millionaires. Regular people can like wine too, and sometimes they'll be able to purchase rare wines. Unlike with Koch, these regular wine collectors probably wouldn't be able to afford investigating the wine and then also suing the seller, meaning they could lose thousands of dollars, or even more, and have no way to recoup their losses. Koch spending so much money to scare the fuck out of frauds probably did quite a lot to protecting regular people from being duped into buying cheap wine for thousands of dollars. Honestly the idea that rich people can't spend their money how they want is straight up communist. Hypocritically nobody says that about anyone ELSE with expendable income. Like nobody says everyone needs to give all their extra money to charities. No, it's JUST rich people, who btw give more money to charity than anyone, but that's still not enough for a lot of people. They need to have NO money for them to be happy.

For Germany there should be "Frühshoppen" included. Thats like is sunday brunch in the pub but without eggs benedict..you go there early in the morning with friends or alcoholic parents, have a few cold ones and play a round of darts or pool for an hour and then go back home and sleep again for the rest of the day. Sundays the shops are closed here anyways, day of rest..and when you wake up with a hangover from saturday night..nothing better then a fresh counter beer to reach equilibrium and back to bed..work on monday..

Honestly I've always been a person that doesn't judge others for how they spend their money. I don't care how rich a person is if they want to spend it on things they like vs helping others that's their choice. I find a lot of people that complain about that part probably don't exactly give a lot to charities or go around doing things to better society either.

At some point you do have to ask whether such wealthy individuals and families should have this much money to do genereally useless stuff like busting wine counterfeits. The Koch family spends hundreds of millions every U.S. election to amass more power and have money to spare for their obscenely expensive pet projects. A couple hundreds thousands could house a bunch of homeless people. A couple hundreds of millions could lift whole towns out of poverty or improve infrastructure and education directly. It's only natural that seeing them spend their money for such vain endevours like busting wine counterfeits comes with a bitter aftertaste to people who can come up with ways on how money like this could be better used for the good of others.

Finn here, In Finland kalsarikänni (kalsari = underpants, känni = slang for being drunk) means pretty much that you drink alone at home and don't go to bar. We of course have word for "cheers", it's "kippis", but we also have another word that is more used in the North, or we ask foreigners to say it, cause it's a tongue twister 😅 and it's "hölkynkölkyn".

I mean, throwing millions on exposing scam wine doesn't help the world, but then again, he isn't obligated to do so. And if we got the money, we would probably spend a lot of it on our hobby and what we are passionate about. And exposing scammers is a good thing, as I doubt those people ONLY cheat on wine. So perhaps it has a cascading effect down the road against scammers.

John Hancock wrote his signature so big because he literally wanted the king to not have the excuse of lack of magnifying glass, corrective glasses/monocle, etc when reading his signature at the bottom. He wanted it to be crystal clear that he was a revolutionary.

@haku8135Ай бұрын
That's how all tails work. All of them, there's no such thing as a tail that's just hair. Even if the tail doesn't move around, the hair still needs to be anchored to something. Tails are LIMBS, like arms and legs. They're normally covered IN hair, but they are not made of it.

35:14 I mean it’s his money he can spend it how he wants I don’t really get the whole getting mad at billionaires for spending their money how they want too sure you may not agree with it and sure it can be used for wayyyyyyy better things I get that but at the end of the day he’s not a government organization it’s not his responsibility to fix the world if he wants to blow his money on stupid stuff that’s his business 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@ZeallustImmortal7 ай бұрын
Its the duty of the government to prevent billionaires from spending money specifically to hurt people, which the Koch family loves to do.
@haku8135Ай бұрын
People only say that with rich people. Your money could be spent "better" too. Do you need a new computer? No, you fucking bastard, how many people could you feed for that much? Oh but when it's RICH people it's different, THEY don't get to spend their money like everyone else, for THEM they have to have their money taken away to be wasted on giving people with no food a little bit of food, when what they actually need, is a reliable source OF food. Koch would be destitute before he could spend enough money to fix ANYTHING. Spending more money does NOT fix problems. Fixing problems fixes problems. If you give a crackhead a house, he'll ruin the house. Koch can't cure the crackhead AND give him a house, he'd go broke. Nobody on Earth can afford to solve any problems on any scale that would actually impact a country. The amount of money it would take to brute force a solution would send any country in the world into financial ruin. That's why governments exist, and why they make policies, laws and have TRILLIONS of dollars to funnel into places that will generate PROFIT. Sinking money into things that don't create a return on investment only wastes money. Which is fine if you want a pool to play in or a really nice wine cellar to display your collection, but it's NOT so good when you want to run a prosperous country.

Something I've been saying is You can't just give a crackhead a house, he'll ruin it. And nobody can afford to both cure and house all the crackheads. Money is for buying shit. Giving poor people free money, doesn't stop them from being poor. It encourages them to STAY poor, so they still get the free money.
