The interesting thing about the slingers is because they were so famous for being accurate they would drill holes in their ammo to make it whistle in the air as a type of psychological torture.

9:30 They kinda glossed over it, but basically the rule was that Orpheus couldn't turn around until both of them exit Hades. He did walk out without turning around, but assumed that his wife already exited the gates as well and they were already safe. As he turned around, she was just in the entrace, so technically she didn't leave yet

I laughed my ass off at this video, wow IH + mythology was pure gold. The Ovid line about him holding the rights got me good. Also, Nikki’s hair style and color look sick. That’s a really well done metallic effect.

I love mythologies. All those badass stories of gods and monsters and the humans who face them down. They make for good movies and games.

An odd thing is how the origin story of Japan or atleast it's gods is very similar to the Orpheus-one. Where Izanagi's (the creator-god) wife Izanami goes into the underworld, he saves her but looks back before getting out and she turns hideous and curses humanity to die 100 deaths every day I believe, but Izanagi says that he will make 1000 humans each day instead.

About king David and seeing the woman bathing on her roof, as I understood it, there were specific times of day that men and women would bathe. And at these times (because baths were presumably on the roof, for ease of disposing dirty water afterwards) if women were bathing, men would be off the streets and indoors. David, being king probably had no regard for that rule and saw this woman bathing and was smitten.

If you are looking for funny, strange, or weird folklore like the nymphs, try the Myths and Legends podcast. They have a lot of good stuff from around the world but the last quarter of the show is the creature of the week which is normally the most bizzarre creature they can find.

It was actually a common place for them to have a bath and David was not supposed to be where he was, he was 1. As the king, he was supposed to be in the front line and 2. Not in a place where he could see her bathing so, it wasn't her fault
