Great one Todd! Just a little info on JL Audio Slash series amps and the HD amps. Their power rating is for resistances of 1.5ohms-4ohms. So a 500/1 does its rated power of 500w plus from 1.5-4ohms at 11.5-14.4DCv (as I tested myself but JL says 12-14DCv. As for the Caps, they are designed that way with the bulge on top. That is normal and the caps design and is nothing wrong with them. Most of the time, the failure on the power supply side is from inductors clipping from the output strain on the rails. The JL RIPS design is built on the premise of no electrical upgrades in mind. It’s why they cost so much. Sam of Barevids did a really good rundown on the JL amp design and why they are such a unique amp. Even Perry’s guides has a good rundown on them. So when Todd says keep your hands out of the rails, JL amps has a potential of over 300v peak to peak rail. So be careful y’all!!!!!

Nice! I love it when info is posted up for people to refer to. Thank you as always! And of course as soon as I installed the correct transistors it ran flawlessly.

@@ellensburgamplifier I'm certain it did. All that is shown in this video, is that your T-Shoot and confirmation on repairs is a solid and fool proof process. Also, if you don't have it, I have Perry's guide and a lot of photos and documentation on JL slash series amps, and some info on the 500/5 in the guide as well.
