"Without respect, we reject." They are an entertainment industry that refuses to entertain for the most. So yea, of course people move on. Me, to computer games. I don't see a need for streaming services, for intersectional propaganda laden snorefests at two digit fees and then two digit costs for snacks at theatres... Hard pass. I'll settle in for a big pizza and some soda or beer at half the cost and just play together with a couple of friends or even strangers. And be actually entertained. I don't care if Hollywood lives or dies at this point, they are not relevant to me.

Never mind that at this point, with just the PC market alone there's 20+ years of high-quality releases you can get for pennies on the dollar as opposed to their cost at launch. With just a bit of software tweaking (in some cases) you can enjoy them at the ultra-high settings they were intended to be experienced with since the average "workstation" PC these days is well beyond the recommended system requirements for these titles at launch. Bring emulation software and ROMs into the mix, and there is no reason to not be financially punishing these studios while genuinely enjoying the hobby. There's a reason the "retro" market has been exploding recently - even newcomers to the hobby are aware that most new AAA releases aren't worth spending money on, and they're looking to the past for their entertainment.

It's funny how in that entire read, the article, in how "deeply analytical" it is, fails to mention the rainbow-colored and other sundry activist THE MESSAGE pushing and audience blaming elephants in the room causing their downfall. In its complete failure to touch on the wokefication of the product in order to focus on other issues, which wouldn't be as severe if the product was good and not insulting, it just proves the industry as a whole, and those who cover it, are still incapable of self-reflection and accepting that they are the reason for their decimation.

Saddest thing is that this is happening in the gaming industry too. Too many studios decided to take on a -cult- -consulting firm- cult that decided that it wasn't enough to put this agenda first and foremost, but everyone in the studios had to be LIVING and LOVING the agenda. Sweet Baby Inc is the lead culprit, but not the only one behind those movements, and I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't at least somewhat behind many of the Hollywood movements as well.

The death of movie theaters is a tragedy. Watching a comedy we may all laugh together. A horror we scream. A hero we cheer. There is something special about enjoying entertainment as a community. Not to mention the experience of the movie itself is more grand on a huge screen and booming sound. A theater certainly improves movies with scale. Godzilla and Pacific Rim benefit from theaters.

Part of the issue is Hollywood's reliance on people's disposable income for their ticket sales. With average housing and food costs ballooning, people are (of course) prioritizing those expenses first. If ticket sales were a lot less AND movies weren't terrible, preachy stories about how we should hate ourselves, an average person MIGHT occasionally throw burger money towards a comfort movie instead. Instead, we have an entertainment industry that's more interested in chasing Chinese audiences, rather than entertaining people here. Eventually, there WILL be another home grown industry with cheap, accessible movies.

People spend WAAY more time online than watching movies. The ONLY reason, you nowadays go, if a friend absolutely wants to watch one or as a first date option. Otherwise a RANDOM 2 hour documentary on YT about a battle in the 18th century is more interesting. Worst offender are comedy and humor. It was LOONG ago, when i last laughed because of a joke in a movie. I laughed at an AI livestreaming with its turtle making soilcookies with another Streamer and the unintentional humor was peak.

Major studios screwed the pooch during the rise of streaming services for sure. There were always going to be about 3-4 major services at most, because people pay for content, not channels. No one wants to pay $X per month to watch a particular show. They simply pick up a month every year or two to watch AFTER the show has come out. But if there are LOTS of shows on a service, people can justify a monthly expense.

Hollywood now finally notices the reality of what they had done. The only course Hollywood has to go is to completely clean house and start from scratch and being as non biased as much as possible and relearning how the Hollywood of old used to operate. Although that is going to take decades to earn the lost trust, so from now on, eastern entertainment has full reign.

They should have been paying attention to indie content creators instead of beating existing IPs to death with sequels, prequels and interquels - I will happily take series with real heart and soul out into them like “Hazbin Hotel” or “Hellava Boss” over a gender-flipped terminator sequel or poorly-written knock-off of the original “Star Wars” trilogy starring a Mary Sue and a discount Vader…

Giving the customers the opposite of what they want and calling them bigots for it... ... of course audiences moved on. It's honestly Bud Light but slower. They have broken the habit of movie going. When I was last dating we used to go to the movies every other week or so. If we were still dating I could imagine being at the theatre and me listing more of the movies I didn't want to see than ones I did. We probably would have stopped going.

[It's been a few years since last I eyed the flicks sold locally! But Nigerian (African) films, Trini flims (spelled as pronounced, lol) Jamaican shows and films, Indie films and even Asian (East-Indian too) movies were making a solid niche in the former cornered market of the West's movies! Now, there's only niche Spaghetti-Western movies that take shelf-space if any at all! And that's with the older people that still use DVDs! Time and technology is flying by! Simply and nicely put; the HollyWood movie industry has long since lost the plot! Smh😑☕]

you may think DVDs are out dated but with physical media some woke F-wit can't decide your movie, E-book or game playlist is problematic and erase it off the server even though you paid for it years ago or "fix" it's art for a "modern audience." so go ahead laugh at people who have huge DVD or blu-ray collections and therefore could give a crap less if Hollywood or triple A gaming studios suffer a critical existence failure.

Actually, considering how much it costs to live in California, $2600 a week sounds pretty low. Especially when the median rent is $2800+. And really, it's for the best that old paradigms die, since a lot of those propped up terrible people in positions of power inside massive companies just because they were friends with and/or were relatives of someone high on the food chain. I mean, if stories on Reddit are to be believed, there are plenty of businesses that massively damage themselves and/or collapse over one overzealous idiot in the wrong seat.

Movie industry is phases. Like 70s and 80s had some terrible starsky and hutch style movies. Those 70s movies were so bad they mad tom and jerry all orange and post modern and tacky. Then we got back to the future and aliens. And things were going well until they made that xmen movie where rogue was a little boy named anna. So it was about 10 bad years. 20 good years. Now 20 bad years. Maybe the next 40 years will be good until martian cinema takes off.

In my town, the movie theatre is still open and I would be happy to go there and spend my money. However, just about everything sucks now. The last time I went was to see The Matrix Resurrections. Probably the worst movie I have ever seen in a theatre and this is coming from someone that loved the old trilogy, the animatrix, and even played and like the video games. I couldn't believe how awful it is and was genuinely confused by how it ever ended up that way. I just couldn't understand how they could have fucked up the matrix so badly. It would have been better to just not make it. I was so confused that I took to the internet to try and find an explanation. Needless to say, it didn't take me long to get shed my confusion. I say all that to say this. If good movies were still being made, then I would be happy to go to the theatre. But they just aren't. And the reboots, remakes, and reimaginings just don't do it for me either. So it really isn't fair to say that everything is terrible, just most of it.
