By providing historical background, Letlape reminds me of recent Tucker Carlson(American journalist) interview with Russian President Putin. Right at the beginning of that interview, Putin provides historical background to put into context his answers which automatically bring to light justifiable reasons for going into war with Ukraine. Here, Kgosi Letlape provides irrefutable historical evidence which justifies his reasoning. His passion for public health/medical history is second to none, and his understanding of politics and it's interference to public health is just brilliant

What I continue to find whenever I come across these issues is that it is so important to find the route cause to problems so that you can find the adequate solutions. It doesn't make sense to me when they promise free Healthcare when we already have that it's just not quality!!! We need to get ourself informed so that we can be part of these decisions instead of always complaining bcoz its frustrating!!!

Wow, thank you for the clarity especially on where we come from on medical schemes, privatisation and intentional killing of public hospitals. Most public and private media houses are unable to give airtime on NHI because it will uncover the reality and best awareness that comes with NHI. As of today the Doctors are benefiting, private hospitals administrators are benefiting, all unregulated price wise.

As a professional in health I so so enjoyed this episode and agree with Dr Kgosi. I like the fact that he makes an example of the NHS in the UK where I live, which is what the SA government is looking to implement but not replicate! SA needs to overhaul its health care system act, learn from others like the UK on how to build a system that is better and inclusive of everyone. Having said that, the UK government is apparently looking to “privatise” the NHS but the public is not privy to that… yet! Well done King David for bringing this very knowledgeable doctor to talk about the NHI and other related political issues. I hope that many people will listen and start thinking critically and logically about this and as the doctor says, ask the right questions!
@marco8081a3 ай бұрын
Seems like as I did, you chose to leave SA. The NHS is not perfect, but operates within an organizational structure and wider population of reasonably skilled and educated people, not bent on plundering public resources. SA has thieves in power, socialism knocking on the door and general ineptitude. Despite your optimism I see no evidence that SA has build any workable system. Ever.

@@marco8081a It’s sad that the ANC is failing the people of South Africa 😢and, Oh yes I chose to explore other lands as you know during apartheid people of colour were not allowed to travel to these places so when the opportunity came with the release of Tata, I didn’t hesitate to leave for the UK, family and all 😍

Throughout the interview, I kept saying Dr. Kgosi Letlape talk that talk. We used to own a tuck shop back home until families started instructing their kids not to buy from us. This is one of the most intellectually stimulating interviews I have watched on this podcast. Dr. Kgosi Letlape was very clear in this interview. It is through this interview that one really gets to understand the fallacies of the NHI Bill because through this interview one got to understand that indeed the Bill has good intentions, but unfortunately the way the government of the day intends to implement this Bill is very questionable. We need more doctors like Dr. Letlape that can help us craft a more resounding policy for public health - for the interests of the masses of our people.

I wasn’t planning on voting for ActionSA, but this talk has been the most compelling reason to give them a majority to run with a reform like this man is proposing, especially since he is their ministers of health candidate. But a very revealing conversation, I learned a lot and my views have fundamentally been challenged for the better, I now see the idea of universal health in a completely new light, especially being a current huge medical aid bill sponsor. We have a lot to think about fellow South Africans❤.
