They didn’t legalize gambling. They made sportsbooks and fantasy sports part of the quasi government regulated lotto and allow specific companies to run the operation on behalf of the states. That’s why companies like DK and Fanduel have to go to each state and get approved to run in those jurisdictions. If you try to start your on sportsbook, gambling operation, casino, etc they’d throw you in jail.

You think that game was bad. I just finished the first quarter of Cowboys vs. Giants (week 4) and the calls are horrendous. Called face mask on the Giants and it was really Dallas, costing the Giants 15 yards and they had to settle for 3 and then the holding call on the Dallas touchdown, which would’ve set the Cowboys back ANOTHER 10 yards and they picked the flag up!!! This comes a week after the Raiders loss where a ref 15 yards down the field threw a flag for DPI on the Ravens defense in the endzone when the ref right there didn't. Of course, the Raiders scored a td the next play from the 1. Back when Brady, Arod, Stafford, Rivers, Manning, and more, first came on to the scene (and through the early 2010's) you could hit a QB so hard his helmet would fly off. Now if you breathe on em, it's 15 yards. It's not impressive to watch a qb dance around in the pocket, scramble, and put himself in harms way all for free yards. Qb's now step into throws and defenders hoping for a flag. It's not impressive by any means when you're virtually untouchable.

Mahomes, and many other mobile QBs do it because they found out these refs analyze a full-speed game millisecond by millisecond to determine "going out of bounds and still in bounds" to gain another free set of downs. Or if the refs don't call anything it allows qbs to shimmy another 5 yards because contact with a QB is now illegal.

I stopped watching before the chargers left SD and when they left there was no reason to even wish a team did well anymore. Football became soft. After the CTE scandal the NFL could have gone in two directions. Accept it’s a dangerous sport, have everyone sign wavers and do some problem solving (like upgraded equipment and expand roster to account for more rigorous injury protocols), or they could nerf the game. They chose option two and it fundamentally changed the game (recent Tom Brady vid in which he actually agrees with me. He said defense is basically dead at this point). At the same time they nerfed the game, they geared the game heavily in favor of offenses because they wanted more $ (more scores = more $). So someone like me who grew up watching in the 90’s/00’s, played in high school (db) and enjoyed the whole balanced game… 🤷🏼‍♂️ well the game isn’t for me anymore. Enjoy it while you can. It’ll be flag eventually… Oh also, aren’t you tired of them changing the rules every single year?

the league is fixed and the longer people continue to not call it out in fear of being labeled a conspiracy theorist or the like the more it empowers Goodell to keep his ways. Goodell treats the league like a business rather then a sport where profits come before anything, even at the expense of the sports integrity. They need to make roughing the passer rule, hitting the QB 2 seconds after ball is released. Subject to replay. That would fix a lot of these roughing calls.

The NFL giving the Cowboys preferential treatment is as old as it gets. Let’s go back to 1985 or so. The then St. Louis Football Cardinals were playing the Cowboys in Dallas with a playoff spot on the line. On a touchdown pass to Roy Green, the official called offensive pass interference on Roy Green. Replays clearly showed and the announcers conferred, there was no interference committed by Green. The penalty cost the Cardinals the game and a playoff clinching win. The Big Red won the next game, but lost a tiebreaker for a playoff spot. 2 years later, they moved to Arizona. The BigRed may have stayed in StL had they made it to the playoffs.

Idk if every game is this way, but every nfl game I’ve watched this year so far has been ridiculous with the excessive amounts of penalties being called. The refs are throwing a flag for every little insignificant rule violation that nobody ever bothered policing before now.

It's obvious that widespread legal betting and Las Vegas odds makers are ruining the NFL. Cheating still happened when betting was on the DL - but now betting is legal, the cheating is so obvious that it makes even me quite nauseous......
