I feel like I should be paying for this. The way you abstract form is very appealing. The speed which you can imply a tree, mountain, cloud.. ect into sleek, readable shapes with a couple tactical slashes with the hake shows how much experience you have. You're clearly an expert in the tool and medium. You're teaching for beginners, and in a clear pleasing voice. It's mezmorizing to watch. You should start a patreon or contribute at skill share. Thanks for taking the time to record all these and upload them for free. Only one more thing to do in a situation like this. All praise almighty algorythim. I give thanks to you bestowing up me this golden fountain of technique. I rang the sub bell and this clicked like button as an offering oh great one. Joking aside, you're amazing. THANKS. Time to binge.

Liked watching you work with the hake, fan, tissue, plastic card, and how you “built” the painting. Haven’t tuned into you much lately but glad I did. Good job preserving the golden light. The lake seems to turn into a waterfall? Rocks look great too. Painting has an old masters feel, early American, Emerson in the woods.

I have been painting watercolours for 3 years. This will be my fourth year. Since starting, there have been shifts in my creativity, but I really love land and seascapes, just trying to figure what “kind” of land and sea I want to paint. I live in New Zealand and there are plenty of places that I would love to paint but don’t know how to start. I stumbled across your website and I just love it, you have given me a reason not to give up and carry on and practise more. I would love to be able to freely paint like you. Your paintings are gorgeous and I watch you over again and again. Thank you so very much for giving hope to carry on.

I’m so glad for your comment. When you paint it’s an expression of yourself. Keep going and just paint. Let it happen, even if it’s abstract. Let yourself just move the brush. Paint shapes and colors and it will come together. Thank you for watching and your comment it encourages me!

While painting your tree on the left-hand side you just debunked the myth of putting a lighter watercolor on top of a darker color. That was great. Also you paint with watercolor like an oil painter. Just beautiful

Having trouble with “is it a little waterfall or a big, Yosemite, one!” I think it’s a perspective thing. I think I would have kept it a lake.

Mr. Joe I thoroughly enjoy your videos. So relaxing to watch. I have found that the more I let go, relax and allow the watercolor be in control the better my paintings have become. I used to use the smallest round brushes which I think we all have been there at the beginning but now I go with the largest brushes, quills and hake brushes are definitely my go to. I actually prefer a quill versus a round. Raphael has a great quill brush that I absolutely love. Ron Ranson Hake are fantastic and don’t stress over the shedding from the hake brushes, that’s normal and the more you use the hake the shedding will stop.

Thanks for the nice comment. This one was made a few years ago and these days I will gently pull on the bristles before painting to remove any loose hairs. And I agree looseness is the key for me, painting like you don’t care will give great results. Thanks again.

@@joemenzaart I completely agree, one of my first paintings where I recall completely letting go was supposed to be mountains in the backdrop with trees forward and fog and mist throughout. However, it turned out to be something completely different. Still had the mountains but I started taking a second to really look, truly look at what was being created. The way that the watercolor was flowing created sandy banks on the left and right, and a stream winding down from the mountains. So I went with it, still incorporated the trees and mist but truly taking the time to listen to the painting allwed me to create something that was much more beautiful with allot of depth. I remember how excited I was bc it was my first eye opener to what everyone was talking about when it comes to the true beauty of watercolor and just how rewarding it could be if you just let go. That was when I fell in love with watercolor.
