Oh, I had no clue Amtrak also went to Canada (not that I looked into it much tbf). So I assume to could travel from the US to Canada by train, that's pretty cool :D

Amtrak goes to Vancouver, Toronto and Montréal, but only the service to Vancouver is a direct service (with customs clearance in Vancouver). On the trains to Montréal or Toronto, passengers need to get off at the border to go through customs, which adds a two hour delay to the trip. They're building a customs facility in Montréal to allow direct service but there are still no plans for one in Toronto.

Wooow, 2 hours delay for customs?! Seems weird they don't do all of that at the stations, like you would for flights as well... But oh well, still good to know, thanks! :D

During part of the year, Amtrak is the only train service between Toronto and Niagara Falls (GO Transit only runs the route on weekends in the summer), so Amtrak needs to serve the local domestic trips within Canada and stop at lots of stations. Railway upgrades are underway to provide year-round GO Transit service to Niagara Falls, at which point it would become possible for Amtrak to serve only limited stops where customs facilities would be built.

Ohhh, that's interesting! Glad to hear they're upgrading the routes :)

What do you use to determine speed? transit docs and transsee?

Directly from the video. Divide the train length by the time it takes to pass a stationary point (in this case a pole)
