This chapter has made me realized how full of boss fights this chapter is. If you’re including the mini bosses, there’s 4 total fights in this chapter (Iron Adonis Bros). 3 without mini bosses. (Bowser, Rawk Hawk, Macho Grubba). Prince Mush is optional but is considered a boss fight too.

Yes, that’s a lot, but if you compare this Chapter to Chapter 8, it doesn’t have nearly as many bosses. Chapter 8 has 5 boss fight and 8 bosses if you count them individually, with, in this order, Doopliss, Marilyn, and Beldam, Gloomtail, Grodus, Bowser and Kammy, and, finally the Shadow Queen.

Coming from someone that adores wrestling, this might be my favorite theme of the bunch for the remaster. This track FEELS like it belongs to a Heel wrestler like Rawk. (For those that aren’t aware, heroes/villains in wrestling are often called Faces/Heels. In lucha it’s Rudos/Technicos ((Forgive me if that’s incorrect it’s been a hard decade since I’ve watched lucha)) ) And when you think about it, Rawk is a perfect heel stereotype. He flagrantly disregards rules, sabotages other competitors, is generally arrogant and full of himself… and his theme perfectly fits that.

It's not bad by any means but many aspects I liked about the original either weren't carried over at all or were shifted to fit a completely different direction altogether. The OG sounded closer to a 90s rock anthem with a more spacious and grandiose opening setting up the fight like a spectacle where the main melody was also given more space to carry through the song in a clear way while being accompanied by synth types one would typically associate with music of arcade fighting games. The remake sounds more like a heavy metal concert with a more muffled guitar that sounds busier when put alongside its heavier background riffs, creating more of a "wall of noise" effect. The synths also sound more organ-like which give the track a more "gothic" and "ominous" quality which is a very different direction from the original. It's good as a stand-alone alternative piece doing its own thing but for people expecting a remake track that is more faithful to the direction, tone and spirit of the original it may not scratch that same itch. Then again, maybe the more experimental approach when it came to remaking the music for this game was intentional because they were trying to find a way to bridge the gap of the classic paper mario with the more modern entries like origami king. They may not have added the classic music badge into the game for contrast if the music was already faithful enough.

Ironically I feel like this remade song is made less intense than the original, in a weird way. In the original game, this song was the only one that was all hard rock. But in the remake, almost all the boss fights tracks have thrashing rock guitars now. Even the Chapter 3 regular battles sound just like this. This track doesn't stand out so much anymore. It's not a worse version, just a little less unique.
