Thank you to all 40 of our volunteers who came out to Swan Creek on Saturday! Thanks to you, we were able to plant 100 redcedars to replace the Scotch Broom that had taken over the area.
We were especially grateful to have been able to plant redcedar because it is a culturally and ecologically significant tree that has been cared for by the Puyallup since time immemorial. These trees will be able to thrive here for generations to come and will support the community science effort of Forest Health Watch and Washington State University to find out more about redcedar health.
We also would not have been able to do this without our partners and volunteers from CHIP-in, a program from Metro Parks Tacoma who prepared the site for all of us!
Thank you to Amy Boucher for sharing this video with us!
