Since its introduction a decade ago, Eventide’s H9 Harmonizer - as well as the follow-up H9 Max - has become a standard on guitar pedalboards.
Now, the company has outdone itself with a new and improved unit, the powerhouse H90, which Guitar World Tech Editor Paul Riario marvels is “undoubtedly the apex of engineering and sound fidelity in a singular multi-effects stompbox.”

I truly love the sounds. The variety of different moods and effects is seemingly endless. My problem is that I don't time to go back to college for another degree in order to operate it!

Great demo. Really helpful seeing how the interface works. I’m very impressed by the interface, capabilities and the sounds.

Yip, I’m in the same boat. I would probably just use the factory presets. It would be wasted on a technosaur like me.

but how do you change between effects in a live performance?
@lawrencebraniff6952

even in bank mode you only get a choice of 3 effects . To access more it seems you have to change bank and then select your effect. This doesnt seem to me to be very practical in a live show . By the comparison the old H9 app allowed you to chose from 12 different effects at a time using your phone. So my question is, why have we gon from 12 to 3. Without the app, the H90 is pretty useless for live performance.... Am I missing something?

Never saw anyone with a phone to switch banks in a live setting. Its midi switchable, you can go from #4 to #25 with 1 click anyway.

Can you still use an ipad to control the effects on the h90 harmonizer? I like the app...

Unfortunately, it appears that the answer to this question is "no". I'm still struggling to figure out how to use the dang Looper. :)

@@paulkeller9376 Is this a good pedal for me? I have studio monitors. I am coming off a FM9 that I sold- needed the money. If I use it, do I have to use other pedals or amps? Trying to avoid that. I tried a Stomp XL but was not impressed with the tone. I am a bit of a tone snob. I also heard good things about the Meris LVX but I think all it does is reverb vs. an all in one modeler. FYI, I use a RC500 looper external pedal...even with my FM9. It's just easier and better IMO and you can save the loops- it has drums, etc. Just sharing.

To be honest, I’m still using my H9 because I haven’t had enough time to work with my new H90. I’ve imported a few presets and those work well, but the app is a little confusing and the absence of a Bluetooth feature has me disappointed. I relied heavily on the H9 app on my iPad to change programs at gigs. Not sure why they would have ignored a major feature of the H9

@@paulkeller9376 Bluetooth costs money to implement. At nearly $1,000 I cannot justify the H90. I paid more but can justify buying my FM9. Watch your ears too. One poster said his H90 volume spike really high and almost blew his amp and he had volume only at 3. With my tinnitus, I cannot afford to take that chance. Yes- everyone says the app is a nightmare written by a programmer. So worldclass effects to be sure but falls short in other areas. I will pass. You must be a pro to buy that piece of gear. I hope it works for you but I suggest you sell it and grab a FM9. The effects are nearly as good and it can do a lot more. If you need specific effects you can simply use some Eventude or Neural plug-ins in your studio.

1 H9 Max is plenty. 2 H9 Max’s are bonkers. An H90 must be otherworldly 😮

apparently the app is coming, but there is no timetable... ie could be years......Seems Eventide is up to its old marketing tricks. Great new pedal with loads of processing but 1/4 of the flexibility.

It's called a "harmonizer" yet apparently it doesn't come with a single factory patch to showcase this feature. I've watched dozens of demos of the H90 yet none of them shows the unit producing simple non-delayed harmonies of the input signal a la' Boss Harmonist. Interesting, isn't it?

See my video. It is more than capable, it's just that there are almost infinite possible things it can do so most videos only cover parts.

For me, I'd prefer to hear it being used producing 'Thin Lizzy' or ' Wishbone Ash' type harmonies. The sort of stuff a single guitarist would use to achieve this type of sound. That would really be a good indicator of how it achieves harmonies. Personally, the TC ELECTRONIC QUINTESSENCE HARMONIZER is still my go to unit for this. Just my 2 cents :)

You can also check out H9 and Pitchfactor demos as it does everything those pedals do. A lot of the demos for the H90 focus on what's new.
