Are you drawing water from a well oil leak when it comes to a lake distance does matter. And elevation you will have to compensate either with gravity or with more horsepower for example if you are using a one horse and a half pump you will need to have the water or the pump near the lake to push the water instead of pulling the water does that make sense?

I stumbled into your channel after studying pumps and systems and have enjoyed your content, so I subscribed. I do have a question though, professionals typically don’t take chances with certain things bc they need to honor their work and time is money plus reputational risk. Take the capacitor for example, you can replace but typically recommend a new pump. I understand why! So, mY question is, as a professional, why would you use such a cheap pump with what looks like a fairly poor consumer rating. Others, like Flotech or Red Lion seem to have a much better reputation. My irrigation system had a Myers’s and was replaced with a sta-rite or something like that

Great question!! So this particular customer had a budget for a Lowes/home depot sprinkler pump. This type of motor used on ever built does not have a long life span like Goals, Pentair, Flowtech, STA-rite. But!! if installed right you can get maximum efficiency, which means you can get a lot of life out of it. That sprinkler pump was giving me 25 GPM! My personal favorite is Pentair motors They are quiet and powerful! When The capacitor in the motor has blown That usually means the sprinkler motor is running very hot and will Lock up on you very soon! When it runs hot like that its pulling more AMPS which will strain Capacitor.

I say sorta bc the cost of the ever-pump from HD appears to be the same price as the Flotech, which is a pentair product and while entry level, seems to have great reviews. You may have answered what happened to my pump, it was running fine but suddenly shut down. Inspection revealed it was blistering hot. Waited until next day to test and when powered up, some sparks popped out of the motor area and some smoke so I turned off immediately and tossed it in the garbage. Maybe it was just the capacitor, not sure, but sparks and smoke concerned me so looking at the 1hp Flotech at $250 Home Depot. Edit, the 1hp models are the same price but the more standard 1.5 hp is almost 100$ more for the Flotech brand so I see your point now.

If you want your sprinkler pump to last a lot longer put a pump house over it’s a small one. They sell them at your local irrigation supply store or plumbing store you can slide right over it and protect it from the elements. Also if you have it a foot off the ground you were protected more also from critters getting in there and creating a home causing your pump to burn out a lot quicker

Are these Everbilt pumps reliable? How long do you think this user will get out of it? I know that there are much more expensive ones out there, but realistically, how long do you see them lasting?

They are reliable when installed right. They are reliable when you have performed the proper gallons per minute and your pump is not over stressing. I’ve had mine for six years and it’s still going strong

Thank you for sharing. Im also a landscaper, I work in florida and Im getting more into irrigation repairs. I just got called about a pump not turning on. The system has several electrical boxes around the pump. It looks like one box is the pump relay but there are two other boxes there. What could they be? Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks

Well let’s start at the pump! Make sure the relay is getting proper voltage and make sure all the connections are wired up correctly I do have videos on that. And make sure that you are getting voltage to the pump that will let you know the relay is working correctly. You also have a 24 V wire that goes from the clock to the relay that wire gets broken or shorted out it will not activate the relay and the pump will not kick on. And then last but not least check resistance on the pump itself and make sure your capacitors are not blow it out because if they are that it’s time for a new pump

Is there any way that you can explain adding a pump on city water? I don’t have a well but I want to get some more pressure and gpm to my sprinkler system with a pump but I’m not sure how to plum it into my existing main line.

Sure……Do you want that in a video do you want me to just explain it to you I believe a video is in session and I can explain the does and donts on adding a pump or a.k.a. a booster pump do you city water system

But I would caution you before I upload a video for you. You may want to check out the gallons per minute on your system if you go over your required gallons per minute you will get low pressure or what we say in the industry your system is pissing. So what I need to do is to put a video up on gallons per minute and why that is so important because if you buy any old sprinkler head or any nozzle you can offset your GPM or gallons per minute and your system Will drop

@@progreengroundservices4038 yes I’m aware of nozzles and how they work in the heads I’m just looking to get better flow and pressure with a pump (If possible) and I just don’t understand exactly how I’m supposed to do it( for context) I have two water mains one for my house and one for water spigots and my sprinkler system. I want to just tee into to the main line right before the valve manifold closest to the timer and then as the zones go the pump keeps going but I don’t want the pump to run whenever I turn on a water spigot. So basically I want a dedicated pump to the sprinklers without a dedicated main line to all the valves, again I’m not sure if you can do that but that’s why I’m asking thanks in advance!

@@Skye_siddall. okay I'm going by what you are telling me being that I'm not visually there to look at it you would have to add a pump start relay to only be activated when your sprinklers are on. You have the right idea based on what you're telling me as far as for boosting pressure you would need a pump start relay and a horse and a half or two horse pump that you tie into the main line before you get to your valve manifold. Your pump wires would go into the pump start relay of course you have to feed power to the relay preferably 220. Then the 24 volt wires that are in the pump start relay will connect to your timer so that the timer can control when the pump turns off and on. Make sure you don't cross connect. But this will be able to boost the PSI not the gallons per minute but the PSI to your sprinkler heads which means you will get the most out of your gallons per minute with the booster pump installed. Please let me know that help

@@progreengroundservices4038 it sure did, I understand it much better now, if you happen to have any footage or pictures,diagrams, etc. I would love to see them as a visual reference of the plumbing, I have a basic understanding of the wiring but I can’t really find anything to do with plumbing that’s similar to my situation. One last question, is there any simple and cost effective way to boost gpm with out running a larger mainline or putting in a type of tank system. Thank you so much for replying punctually. Really helps out!

Not much of a difference in pressure but there's a big difference in price. It's kind of like a supercharged V6 engine versus a V8 one may have a little bit more but not much more to tell the difference they both will do the same job as long as your gallons per minute is on point
