karla ana ylnora bangao I wouldn't say it is waterproof. But I do own one that was submerged for a week. After drying out and some sun it worked again. If you want the same thing cheaper cost wise? Go to your local Dollar General's hardware section. Same exact light for five dollars.

They're meant to be absolutely flat on the wall so no water can get behind them, maybe that's why? Tbh if you bought from Amazon you could probably just message them for a replacement

aleon1018 nope 18650 lithium cell, and they don't quit working for a reason you would think. It is actually the switch on the bottom of the unit that has corroded terminals. Switch it on and off repeatedly while spraying some wd40 into the switch. It will work just fine again for another year or so before needing serviced again.

Freakin' Reviews hey dude it didn't fail it just had corroded terminals on the switch. Just spray wd40 into the switch and flip on and off repeatedly until it turns back on solidly with no flickering. Sorry I didn't know about your channel in time to tell you.

I upgraded mine with an 18650 battery the same battery inside the sunblast & much brighter for much longer..just had to do some cutting & fitting inside but it works...

I found this item at my local Rite-Aid at pretty decent discounted price. When we moved, I finally decided to put it up so the light so it shows down on the cars in front of the garage. However, there's a slight over hang of the roof over the garage and found that although the sun charged it, it didn't charge it enough to last throughout the night. It was a bit dim and I just assumed it was dim because it wasn't getting enough sun throughout the day. I bought another similar looking item through Amazon but it was a bigger and longer with larger housing with more LED lights in it (AUKEY Solar Lights, 38-LED Motion Sensor Light). This time I mounted the new AUKEY solar light on the rain gutter over the front of the garage to get enough sun. The new light was definitely brighter and lasted all throughout the night. I relocated the EverBrite over the garbage cans on the side of the house and this time there was no overhang of the roof to limit the sunlight to the EverBrite. The EverBrite is now working just fine and it is perfect for the location to shine over the garbage cans. Just bright enough to scare away any animals trying to gain access to the garbage. I believe the EverBrite isn't a bright enough light especially if you are going to use it over the garage as a first line of defense to scare away potential thieves. You would need some flood lights or the Ring camera spot light for extra added security. For a cheap solution that works, I would definitely get the AUKEY solar light as it works and is bright enough with 3 different light settings. I installed my EverBrite roughly in August 2017 so I'll see if it lasts just as long as yours. This review was definitely a key decision in buying the EverBrite along with the discounted price. We got ours beginning of 2017 and it lasted maybe 3 or 4 years, but declined in efficacy and worked sporadically especially during winter months. I am in Ireland so the sunlight is less intense and there are more cloudy skies than sunny days. Does anybody know how many lumens it was? I want a more powerful one next purchase.

idk exactly without a oicture, but mine had a plastic film over the solar area. that's what you take off. there might also be a film over the lights. if there is remove it.

I have this and the harbor freight version. They both work. 2x during winter, I have to take the batteries out and do a full recharge. But, I also have them on the dark side of the house. 2 years and both still going. The detectors seem to work @20' on full charge, gets weaker as the batteries do. i installed slightly bigger capacity batteries (as I do most things) and seems to overcome all that. Brighter and able to handle more triggerings. My dogs seem to love setting them off. Alot. One other thing. I seal up the cases (of everything) with silicone to help prevent water and moisture from getting inside. I live in a place with extreme weather, 70 mph winds, minus -20 winters, 110+ summers, monsoons from hell. These work. Just got to do alittle extra because it would cost more if they did it. Bigger battery because I want better performance under more usage, seal it up good myself because I won't want it to fail and I don't want to pay alot more for them to do it. Other than that, they're great.

We have had serious radio interference (FM band) since a neighbor installed one of these things and then went on a long holiday. The interference might best be described as a loud whine. Could devices of this kind possibly cause this problem? Also the light it produces is very blue -- not of much use.

Yeah, the light could possibly be the source of interference. Also, these things have been catching fire on some people, so beware!

I bought one of these today but I'm hearing that some are bursting into flames. Is this one here the original version or the newer version. The one I have has a small 600mA AA sized battery inside. I'm wondering if I was to rewire mine so when you switch it off it disconnects the battery.

If you have a dollar general, get the open trails version, its 1/4 the cost and the battery is twice the capacity with a 18650 that you can replace for a higher capacity one.

It really needs to face South in order to work properly. I moved it to a West facing wall and it didn't seem to stay on all night.

I just repaired one. Turns out they have to be mounted vertically, else water pools inside. Other reviewers say theirs catch fire, and given the battery charging circuit, I see why. It does not have a third switch position, and can't do "motion only". The light is half bright until there's motion. I'd rather have motion only.

anyone know what the LEDs are? looks like just 4 of them, those small yellow rectangles, and they look like Samsung LM561C or similar, which are super-efficient at ~200 lumens per watt, each LED is 0.3w. So this Everbrite would be using 1.2 watts and outputting 240 lumens. They're rated to last at least 50,000 hours or 5.7 years (continuous use), so if they're conking out before then it's just poor manufacturing of the other parts of the Everbrite.

It is as bright as a dollar store flashlight (when charged). I put one at the entrance to my home, which is on the North side, so it only lasted about a month before the battery died. If it is installed on a south-facing loction (in North America), it may work longer before the battery dies. This is more of a trinket than anything. If you want to make it more useful, put a cell phone battery or 18650 cell in it, along with a charging port or a larger solar panel; but honestly, the light output is not worth these upgrades. Buy a bigger light.

I purchased both the Everbrite and SunBlast solar lights. I like the Everbrite better overall. It gives you some light when you want to know which direction to walk. Also, The Everbrite ran all winter, even when twenty degrees below zero Fahrenheit. The Sunblast does not work at all below freezing. I am looking into other solar lights now, because I also have found the battery is nearly dead after one year. If it was replaceable that would be great. Recently I purchased a Towkka Super Bright 120 LED Solar Lights: Equipped with Eco-friendly 120 LED chips and high-quality rechargeable 2200mAh Li-ion battery. After charging for 1 week, I mounted the lights and found the light the area around the house better than either of the first two in either medium or high brightness mode. But the Dusk-Dawn medium mode kills the batter after 2 to 3 hours. But in the off/bright mode the light works all night, but they could have made it stay on a lot long, like maybe a whole minute.

You can get them at Dollar general for like $15. My opinion, it's not worth $15. Look towards the back of the store and you can find the "off brand" version for about $5. Personally, I hate the fact that when it's dark it's always on. Dim until it detects movement, then it goes bright.

I'm with ya on that point. I didn't want a nightlight--I wanted a security light that functions like normal AC-powered security lights do (OFF until it detects someone). They should make the nightlight feature an option.

I suppose it instructs you to mount on a south facing wall is because most of the customers live in the northern hemisphere. The point is it must get several hours of daylight to work.

There are no directions on my package to mount the light on any particular wall. I just got one and installed it on a west facing wall that is shaded most of the time. I'm guessing that the solar cell will charge the battery at my shaded site or on a north, east or west wall thanks to atmospheric diffusion of sunlight.

Just 4 leds? My lamp cost 5$ and has 40 leds O_o The battery was nearly flat (less than 1V), but after I used better battery (1500mAh) and protection board (0.5 $) the lamp shines really well and has been working for a year and still works really great.

I am curious if anyone has ever opened one of these up or tested a few theories. I have an identical unit with different name bought from the Dollar Store. I opened mine up and found that it has a No Name 800 mAh lithium 18650 battery. What I am curious of is does this unit shut off charging when the battery is fully charged? And also when the switch is in the off position, is it still charging? I use mine around some really expensive lightweight camping gear and an explosion could be very costly and devastating. To be safe I have swapped out the cheap 18650 battery with a high quality Samsung 30Q (vape battery) with much higher mah rating of 3000mah that has a chip in it that it will shut the battery down if charged above 4.2v. This will also power the light for days upon days in the event no sunlight is available for a charge and also lessen the likely of an overcharge.

No, there's just an on/off switch. I would imagine you could put a piece of tape over the sensor, but it would never turn off.
