Battle Cars is one of my all time favorites. There are some unique picks on this collection. But I’m still not ready to walk back my negative review. They’ve grabbed a lot of the same games AtGames has on their units. Only the portability is proprietary and while they didn’t advertise arcade and serve NES, they really didn’t have the option to because we already know after ALL these devices that NES versions are just what you get. Great review, nice hearing my name as usual and Id like to see the 2nd Collection. They’re out of stock everywhere. And collection 2 includes Phelios.

Battle Cars was new to me, but from the small amount of time I spent with it, I can certainly see how it's much more than just a drive-and-shoot game. Seems to have some real depth and progression.

Good stuff. Would you say over time the issue with the poor viewing angles you mentioned in your first Evercade review is less noticeable? For example, is holding it at the optimal angle easy to manage, or do you find it more comfortable at an angle that exposes the poor display?
@GenXGrownUp4 жыл бұрын
You know, Mike, the more I use the system the less I think about the screen. I still feel that it's a sub-par screen and holds the Evercade back from being a truly premium gaming unit, but it hasn't stopped me from enjoy playing on it. Plus, about half the time I use mine connected to HDMI, so that's helped a lot!

The thing is cool, no doubt! And I enjoyed your review. But it should be said that an old modded DS, 2DS or 3DS can play about any game you want from the era. So, I would buy something like this to support the product and hope it grows but if someone was desiring something like this but doesn’t really have the money they should consider the emulation option.
@GenXGrownUp4 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong, Doc. We have to remember that there is a very narrow subset of game fans who have the technical aptitude to tweak/mod/hack gear, find ROMs, and get everything configured. For the vast majority of the gaming public, the desire to click "Buy" on Amazon and take delivery of a ready-to-go system is very strong.
@DrGamelove4 жыл бұрын
@@GenXGrownUp Yeah, I do understand that. But I would say if anyone is interested KZbin is just full of easy step by step videos. I'm not the most technical person by far but I was able to load games on my snes classic pretty easy. Most of the time I just click buy on Amazon, like you said, but that's primarily because I like collecting things like that and supporting the manufacturers.

I live in the Netherlands and I've been in contact with electic shops and also searched the internet for a cable to connect my TV to the Evercade console but with no success. All the cables have usb fitting for the TV at one end of the cable but no suitable mini fitting at the other end of the cable for the console. Have you had this problem of finding a cable to connect TV to console? What is the solution to this problem? I've been on the Evercade website for support and sent Evercade an email. I got an email back from Evercade but there was no support, only a page advertising their products.

Interesting collection. I'm about to make *many* enemies with my next statement, but I always preferred NES Galaxian to arcade Galaxian. I don't know, something about the gameplay on the NES version is just nicer to me.
@GenXGrownUp4 жыл бұрын
Why you.... 😁 LOL! Did you first play the arcade or the NES? I know a lot people say they're fans of Double Dragon or Contra, when what they really mean is they are fans of NES Double Dragon and Contra. I think it depends a lot on which one you played the most and thus have the most connection to. For me that was always the arcade versions, but not because they're "better" (though they often are), but because playing them invokes the memories of the arcade like the slightly altered ports just can't.
@SuperJumsNelson4 жыл бұрын
@@GenXGrownUp I've played both equally. I played arcade Galaxian first with Namco Museum DS, and my Plug & Play (The Pac-Man shaped one that uses arcade roms). I only got into the NES Galaxian after receiving both the Galaga Pocket Player, and Galaxian Micro Player for Christmas, and I found myself playing it more. The arcade version definitely has the better graphics and sound, but I think I prefer the NES version because landing hits is a lot easier, which makes it a better experience for me.
@GenXGrownUp4 жыл бұрын
@@SuperJumsNelson I get it. The NES Galaxian's sprites are a bit.. something? Fatter maybe? Maybe they're just bigger in relation to the playfield? But I understand that feeling of getting hits. I usually do a LOT of missing in arcade Galaxian!
@SuperJumsNelson4 жыл бұрын
@@GenXGrownUp I have no doubt the sprites might look a bit different from the arcade version, and I'm still unsure why they made the bottom row green instead of blue (probably the limited NES color palette), but besides that, I don't notice anything too terribly wrong. It even has the high score on the top, which makes it more arcade like compared to some other NES ports. Each to their own, though.
@Emolga62744 жыл бұрын
I agree with you and think the same . Nes galaxian is the best version of galaxian . I prefer it to any version of galaga.

@GenXGrownUp4 жыл бұрын
I'm aware of the Flashback units, RedRider. They're cool, but if I'm going to play on my TV I already have that covered -- this unit offers handheld play which is a nice feature that differentiates it from the Flashback devices. Still though, Activision titles would be a great addition here. Were there *_ANY_* bad Activision titles for the Atari 2600?
@philipdefibaugh56834 жыл бұрын
The unfortunate thing is that if you have the Micro versions of these games, then getting this Evercade game comp would be a waste of money.
@GenXGrownUp4 жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely certain I agree with that. Purchasing the mobile version of a game you already own may feel like a bit of double-dipping, but with so many novel titles not already on micro machines plus the added ability of save states -- and the fact that the entire collection costs less than a single tabletop unit, I'd say it's quite a good value.
@philipdefibaugh56834 жыл бұрын
@@GenXGrownUp I didn't even think about that one. I do agree with you about Mappy Kids. Maybe I was a bit harsh, I am just so used to playing the micro games.

Enjoyable with wide range of games available. However, at a price of just under 90 euros Evercade should have included a battery charger. Even my 15 euro prepaid mobile phone came with battery charger included.
@GenXGrownUp3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the charging block that converts A/C to USB? If yes, it's becoming more & more common for that to not be included in every electronic device (my latest Samsung phone is on that bandwagon). I'm sure it's a cost-cutting measure at the core, but it's promoted as a waste reduction effort. For that matter, you can use the phone from your 15 euro phone! 😊
@spellbound1113 жыл бұрын
@@GenXGrownUp Thanks for replying. Yes, the charger that plugs into a wall socket. A cable is provided in the Evercade package. This cable goes from the console to the not supplied charger. It most probably is a cost-cutting measure. (I used to work in Value Engineering and some of the guys there would strip everything down to the bare bone if they'd had been allowed). The connection from my phone charger doesn't fit into the Evercade console. There are a dizzying array of connections by different manufacturers for different models of electrical gadgets. It would be helpful if all the different manufacturers came together to provide consumers with a standard connection for similar types of elecrical gadgets :) You gave a fantastic review of the Evercade, I really enjoyed it.
