Considering the parameters you laid out originally, I think your evaluation was very fair. On the other hand, if Blaze starts releasing more of these types of carts you may find yourself having to re-evaluate your criteria. I originally played this game from Steam. I'm fairly new to Evercade; so when I discovered this cart was available, I had to have it for my collection. I don't buy everything, just what I believe I'll really enjoy. As a senior my reaction time is definitely slower than it used to be; so I really loved that this game let you continue from where you died. I think the quality of this game was sufficient to justify the price. If the game is outstanding, I would rather have Blaze produce it as a single cart than not at all. Obviously I'd like to see 2+ quality games on every cart. However, the reality is that $20.00 may get us some very good homebrews or less seen games, but major titles will require costlier licensing. As long as Blaze continues to license various genres, there will be something for everyone and that should make most Evercadians very happy. 😀

You're right. $20 for a physical copy of an indie game isn't a bad deal at all. But I had bring it up the way I did simply because this is the first Evercade cartridge to be released with only one game on it. Even if it is a fairly new indie game, the fact is that there have been other fairly big indie games that were released with at least one other game included on the cartridge.

I like the game a lot. And I didn't play through it quickly as possible... I play a few levels every now and then between other games. I also don't feel cheated, I feel like my contribution in buying it, helped support an indie dev who might go on to make more high quality Evercade carts in the future.

I’m on the fence on wether or not to get this one - I hear how it is just too short, but I can’t help but think I might like having the cartridge and coming back to it in a few years and enjoying it again. Or that I might be able to lend it to a friend or something, IDK, it still seems worth it and not worth it. Thanks for the review Crow 🙂

Think about it this way. It's definitely a solid game and Evercade Carts are relatively inexpensive so if you're on the fence I'd say pull the trigger. If it turns out you don't like it, since it is a physical copy, you can always resell it or give it to someone else.

In my own opinion, it's an incredible game. I'm very glad they released it on physical. Yes, it is short and easy, but I think the overall experience is one of the tops of the console. And I really like they had released an special edition for a reasonable price, but I think more than one or two a year would be excessive. But i have to admit I really don't like the idea of Blaze releasing single game cartridges, I understand that it must be the condition the developers impose to release the game on the Evercade system, buuuut it's a dangerous precedent. It’s also one of the best games on the console. Many of those compilation cartridges are complete. Garbage is release only goes to reinforce the idea that quality over quantity always trumps.

I'm actually surprised to hear someone say it's one of the best games on the console. Obviously people can like different things and I'm glad you really enjoyed this one. If you had to make a top 5 games list on EC....would Full Void be on that list for you?

@@crashlineHere are my top 5 Evercade Carts in order: 1. Alwa's Awakening/Cathedral 2. Xeno Crisis/Tanglewood (and it's not because I liked Tanglewood) 3. Renovation 1 4. Full Void 5. Morphcat 1 Capcom collection would have made this list had it been released as a cart. Probably would have taken Morphcat's place.

@@crashline most of the other games are just shovelware on the console. I feel that this game stands out as being unique and an experience that is not on any other console (aside from PC).

Those darn PEGI's - I'm with you on this notion. I'd rather not have them on the artwork either. But, I have ordered a few carts from VGP and still got a PEGI ratings on them even though the website didn't state it was going to be there.

I wonder which ones you got the PEGI rating on. I think some of the earlier carts only had a PEGI variant, though I could be wrong on that. My initial carts were bought off of Amazon US and they had PEGI ratings on them though later ones I bought off of Amazon didn't. I'm not fond of ESRB ratings on the cover of games either, but at least they are just black and white.

@@CrowContinuum Oh yeah for sure.. Amazon would show a photo of a cart with no PEGI but yet send me a PEGI cart ie. Lynx 1 PEGI and Lynx 2 no PEGI. LOL I know 100% I got a PIKO Collection 2 from VGP with a PEGI (the site says nothing about PEGI for that cart)- I believe I have at least one more but have to look back at my orders.

Game was good. Too short. Too easy. Not worth 25$. Should have been at least a double cart. When you have games like Cathedral doing a split cart....why is this one so special?

I'm going to guess that it was because it was a relatively new game. Released on Evercade about 4 months after digital release

@@crashline Every individual and organisation in business is always testing the fence to see what they can get away with. It's the only way anyone can get an edge in the market these days. I shouldn't be saying this but I don't need to buy this game as I watched a playthrough on KZbin a few months back. Suited me as I got the experience without the time and stress that I would have had to invest in playing it as I'm only marginally interested in games like this.

There are no save states but the game allows you to continue from the start of each screen, so yeah, don't fuck anything

It's really not hard. It's also very short. It also lets you restart if you die from pretty much where you left off. I had almost no trial and error at all. Most of the puzzles are extremely obvious. This is more about ambiance and story than difficulty of gameplay.

@@crashline Define short? Bonanza Bros is short at 25 minutes from start to finish. Crow said Full Void had taken him around 2 1/2 hours. That's quite a long game with no option to save. The game is indeed about the ambience. That's why I didn't bother buying it or playing it and watched a playthrough on KZbin instead. Suited me fine since I only have a marginal interest in these types of games.
