Lovely video, great music, so easy to watch. I did the reverse route with my wife and daughter last October (Gokyo to Cho La to EBC), and this brought back great memories. It was my first visit back to the Khumbu since a few climbing/trekking trips in late 80’s/early 90’s - some big changes in both the infrastructure and landscape. Looking forward to heading back one day

Thanks for your feedback... I there were few challenges (kalapathar, gokyo peak, Nangkartshang) but I think Nangkartshang was the main because I had digestion issues at that time. I'm a man of less words and more deeds... So I tried to make it more atmospheric video...

Great video and thank you for sharing. i was impressed that on the day 10th Dzongla to Gokyo via chola pass . This is a long trek and normal trekker stay rest at Thagnac village before continuing to Gokyo the next day.

Yes, the original plan was to rest at Dole but I was anxious to visit gokyo already so I decided to continue even though I suffered from a real pain in my toes (I switched to running shoes and slipped few times 😄). But it was worth it.

Hi, sorry for my late respond. My mid layer is Delta LT Zip-Neck Fleece Pullover - Men's - Forcefield. And my other layer is: Arc'teryx Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket - Men's - Komorebi. It is synthetic jacket. And I was light and warm enough. I used Marino wool as base layer (150 to 300). Highly recommended. I used the jacket when I'm on the move but I had another much warmer jacket for when I'm stationary. It is a much have. Both served me very well, even though I would prefer for the mid layer a full zip.

You don't have to do it in one day. I was supposed to stay for sleep in Dole and continue the next day. Per my recall it took me about 9 hours fro gokyo to Namche. Good luck...

Thanks for your kind words, It was an amazing journey. As the title suggests, I went in April 2022. I used one of the most respected local companies called "Ace The Himalaya," but there are a few more good operators like "Nepal Eco Adventure" and "Nepal Hiking Team" that I was looking at. The most important point is that if you want a respectful firm that treats its employees respectfully, I suggest checking if they are a member of TAAN (www.taan.org.np/). Type the company name in the search bar. The cost may vary depending if you take a private guide, with/without a porter, the number of days, etc. But I would say it may cost roughly $2,000k for 19-day EBC and Gokyo (including accommodation, food, flight to Lukla, hotels in Kathmandu, and more). Keep in mind there are things it doesn't include, so I suggest reading their offer carefully. You may find cheaper operators. I hope you find this information helpful. Thanks, I'm not an expert, but I used gopro hero 10 as it has excellent video quality in good light, small in size, lightweight and wide angle for better capturing background with a selfie stick. I used a flat color profile for better control in post (premiere pro). I created my own LUT. It is better to use the natural color profile if not using post-editing. I also used gopro EI Grande (stick and tripod) and took three batteries (which I charged every day). Let me know if you have more questions. Good luck, and enjoy the journey...

Hi Michael, well it depends. Do you love nature? Do you love different cultures and people? Do you love to overcome mental and physical challenges? Are you OK with very, and I mean very basic accommodations? Are you OK with cold conditions? Do you love dal bhat 😂? If yes, this is the best you can get. I met people who said this trek was their life dream... As for the Second question, April is not the coldest season, but in the higher altitude it can be very cold. Keep in mind that during the day, when you are active, your body generates heat, but you may experience snow and rain with wind which can be a little bit challenging. But the real challenge is when you are stationary (during the trek, in the tea houses, and when you sleep). It can get very cold and you will need warm clothes. If you're more sensitive to cold, I suggest bringing a good down jacket and a sleeping bag. BTW, in kathmandu, it is usually very warm and cloudy in April. Hope this help...

From where do we get permits - Kathmandu or Lukla and how many days does it take to get them? 2.) The stays through the trek - are they easy to find. As we would be hiking for many hours a day - is it a task to find stay? 3.) Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla - Which airline/website did you use to book the flight? 4.) Are there stays available at Gokyo Ri trail. Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Mrinal, Nice to meet you. You plan to do the same trek I did in the same month :). Please note that I used a local tour company that arranged all the permits for me, but I will share the information based on my research at that time. 1. For The trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo, you will need to obtain two types of permits: the TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) permit and the Sagarmatha National Park permit. The TIMS permit is required for all trekkers in Nepal and can be obtained through a trekking agency or by going to the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu. The Sagarmatha National Park permit is specific to the Everest region and can also be obtained through a trekking agency or at the park entrance in Monjo. Per my understanding, in the past, it was possible to obtain it in Kathmandu by going directly to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation in Kathmandu, but I'm not sure it is still possible. I think now you can obtain it only in Monjo. Please bring a passport-size photo, a valid passport, and a visa for Nepal. 2. You usually stay in one of the villages along the trek. So as long as you know the path, you're all good. Keep in mind that April will probably be full of trekkers until Everest base camp. But after that, there will be fewer people going to Gokyo (assuming you do it counterclockwise). So bring a map and learn the path. Please also check the distances between villages, so you know how to plan the day and when to eat lunch. So be mindful to avoid passing a village at 12:00 before eating lunch where the next village is 3 hours far. 3. The trek operator handled this; they booked with Sita air. But I saw many also fly with Tara air. The important thing to know is that it is common for flights to be delayed or canceled. So have a few extra days in nepal in case this happen. 4. If I understand your question correctly, there are no places to stay when climbing from Gokyo to Gokyo ri. It is a few hours to climb from gokyo to Gokyo ri and back. You will stay to sleep in Gokyo and plan to climb for sunset or the next day for sunrise. While you are there, you should go and see some of the other lakes. I hope this helps. It's April, how was the trail so empty??

It was the first season after the pandemic and reopened the trail. According to the locals, it was around 80%-85% capacity compared to the same season before the pandemic. But also note that fewer people usually go to kala pather after the Everest base camp, and even fewer people crossing Chola pass over to Gokyo. Having said that, it wasn't empty in all of these places. For me, it was a perfect balance.
