very nice. I canoe up here in NW Florida in Perdido Bay between Florida and Alabama , I have an estuary available to me as well. No alligators but sharks, dolphins, and a variety of birds, stingrays, fish. Took me a bit to get used to the winds and paddling against and with the current. Everglades look great. Great video.

Nice video. I have done the trip from Everglades city to flamingo twice. Once solo. In a kayak though. I couldn’t imagine doing it in a canoe. The last time I was in a canoe was right before the first time I tried a kayak. Never went back.

Hey there InfinityFishingTeam, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thanks. The camera on the tripod (just before the sunrise shot) in an Olympus e-410 DSLR that we use for all our still shots(it does not shoot video) For video, our main camera is an Canon HV20, tape based HD camcorder. We also use two GoPro Hero HD cameras for all the wide-angle point-of-view video stuff, espescially on or near the water since they are waterproof! -Wayne-

sir albertus asked ``By the way, do the gators leave you alone? Any precautions to take when we see them from our boats?``` We had no problem with the gators. They like to sit around and sun themselves. If youère quiet you can watch them for a while, but if your canoe gets too close they quickly scurry into the water and dissapear.

Wow, the 2nd leg of that trip sounds great! That's awesome you enjoy the editing and story telling.. it definitely shows :) How did you get those shots over the water of you guys leaving shore... did you place a GoPro on a tall tripod and stick it in the water ?
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 11 жыл бұрын
mrhorwitz, if you are refering to the shot at the end where we are heading back to port on our last day... yes we did place a camera in the water on a tripod, but it wasn't our GoPro, it was our canon HV20, but because it was low tide the water was very shallow, (about 1 foot deep) so the tripod did not have to be very high. The water was calm so we didn't really need the waterproof GoPro for that shot. -Wayne-

A) Everglades Park has little to do with "The Everglades", or the "river of grass" B) There are plenty of portages if you want to push the envelope. Nice video.

Can you elaborate on your route. The Gulf Campsites. I recognized Indian Key and guess you may have stayed at Highlands Beach or Mormon Key. It would be helpful if you list your route and campsites.
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Marco Island Paddlers Association, here's the route we took....Depart Gulf Coast Visitor Center at Everglades City and paddle south along the Wilderness Waterway Trail. First night at Lopez River. Second night at Darwin's Place. Third night at Plate Creek Bay Chickee. We then paddled west out through Second Bay and First Bay into the Gulf of Mexico and headed north, stopping at Hog Key for lunch. Fourth night on Turkey Key. Fifth night on Rabbit Key. Day six return to Everglades city.

I’m confused on why they are on that little boat when there’s alligators in that water that could attack them?
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 6 жыл бұрын
Thousands of people explore the Everglades every year in "little' boats - that is canoes and kayaks, and certainly a lot of those people may encounter alligators. Alligators are generally weary of people and more often than not they scurry away or slip into the water as a boat approaches. They see 'us' as a threat. That being said, Florida has had several instances of fatal alligator encounters...I think the key here it to keep your distance, and be respectful of nature. Never feed, threaten or corner an alligator and give them lots of room. There are also snakes, scorpions, sharks, biting insects, even bears in the Everglades. Just be aware of your environment and your surroundings before heading off on any wilderness adventure.
