Looking at your garden I’d say compactness planting is the key to protection and enabling plants to overwinter a little easier.👌👌👌👌

Hi. Some of the bigger hardier evergreens definitely give protection to some of the lower half hardy plants and that was intended in some cases. Palms like Trachycarpus are great for creating an umbrella effect to plants below.

A great collection of plants! I love how lush your garden is looking at this time of year, really inspirational :D

Thank you Craig. It’s evolved over the years from having lots of tender plants to now being a garden that keeps most of its structure all year.

I can't wait to see what you do with the plants on your job. I really struggle with where to put plants and end up with them in pots because I can't seem to decide! I'd love a garden make over video. At the moment it looks like I've got 2 trachycarpus in the middle of lawn, because the pots have been been put away for winter! 🤦♀️

Hi. Hopefully I can do a video showing the planting. If so it will be a few more week yet as quite a bit of landscaping to do first. Cheers

I’ve just purchased another Soft Caress after my dog killed the one I bought last year 😩 This year I’ve barricaded it in to stop him cocking his leg on it 😂

Beautiful collection. Do you give your yuca rostrata any winter protection especially against wet winters?
@tikitropicals652 ай бұрын
Hi and thank you. I have one in a pot that’s in a free draining soil mix. That doesn’t get any extra protection from the cold or wet. I also have a Smaller one planted In a dry area of my garden and I do nothing with that either. If you can plant them in real free draining soil and plenty of winter sun they are really quite hardy. Cheers.

Really enjoyed this view. I come from St. Lucia and trying to recreate a tropical garden here in the UK to remind me of my home country. Which online websites would you recommend for buying mature plants? Have hard some awful plants delivery from quite a few websites in the past and really hoping to find some that sell healthy plants. Thanks again for lovely video. Hope you've recovered from the cold.
@tikitropicals6511 ай бұрын
Hi and thank you. Not sure on the best online nurseries to buy mature plants as most of mine I select myself or grow myself from small. Lots of good nurseries out there just depends what your after.

Just moved into a house and would love some tropical plants in the garden. Complete noobie to gardening and getting started seems quite overwhelming !! I love the look of the palms especially but I have fears of them getting too big over time and ripping up fences or walls etc. Any tips to give me a bit of confidence to give it a go. Garden is probably a third the size of yours. Currently has paving slabs around the edges which I would look at digging up for soil. Thanks !!

Hi. Some palms can get very large in time but some are very suitable for smaller gardens. Tracycarpus Fortuneii is one of the best palms for a U.K. garden. It can grow tall in time but its roots never get bigger than the thickness of your little finger so they will do no damage to fences or foundations. If you have a look on my channel I have just done a video on this palm and it may help with your confidence to buy one.
