Evergreen Ustad Rashid Khan is a true blue compilation of Hindustani Classical Music. Ustad Rashid Khan is one of the greatest Hindustani Classical stars of all times. A legendary Hindustani Classical singer who is a glowing star in the gigantic skyline of Indian Classical music.
Rashid khan is the grandson of legendary Ustad Inayat Hussain Khan sahib who happened to be the founder of the Rampur Sahaswan Khayal Gharana. The Rampur-Sahaswan gayaki (style of singing) is closely related to the Gwalior gharana, which features medium-slow tempos, a full-throated voice and intricate rhythmic play. Ustad Rashid Khan includes the slow elaboration in his vilambit khayals in the manner of his maternal grand-uncle and also developed exceptional expertise in the use of sargams and sargam taankari (play on the scale). He is influenced with the style of Ustad Amir Khan and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.
This album is a little initiative to show our respect to the legendary Hindustani Classical singer Ustad Rashid Khan on his birth anniversary.
