Yup. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it here too... many folks can weld, a handful can certify and even fewer can actually speak and relate the information needed for welders to see the whole picture, from plugging in the machine, to setting the machine to identifying and cleaning the materials and the filler, if necessary.... and how much a half a volt means when your mig welding. Plus, even if Bob were .... unattractive, deaf and dumb... watching the man weld is a learning experience and a pleasure. Good equipment can’t fix a bad welder. A real x ray hand sometimes can’t order breakfast, no less teach a person what’s needed to be a hand. I’m not doggin the others, but the man with the voice, the experience, the knowledge and the ability to teach over the internet ... AND make a Chinese welding machine (full of great quality components) look good .... well... he’s special. He might not turn water into wine but he is the guy who can teach and still weld and make you interested in what needs to be known so you got a fighting chance to remember it when you need it.

@@jmbauer68 ditto... MTS 275 Lightning.. it took a bit to figure out the controls but it’s slick. The advanced A/C pulse is brilliant for TIG welding thick aluminum with very reasonable amounts of amperage.

All I have are Everlast machines. Includes, Mig, Stick, Tig, and Plasma machines. They have all been workhorses that have never let me down for a second. I was hesitant when I bought my first machine, an i-MIG 200, but after I got it and put it through its paces I knew I'd be an Everlast customer for life.

A trick I use to repair the root on small pipe when you can't get in there and get those eraser thin strips out is to drill like a 1/8"-in hole at either end of the grind out before you grind it then you don't get those paper thin slivers you just stop at the drill point and clean it up. I usually angle the drill bit about 30° parallel with the weld. In most cases when you grind out with the holes drilled parallel at an angle you just stop grinding when you hit the outer edges of the drill hole at the top and it's all ready to go back together
