Oh my goodness. Let It Be Me can never be replicated by any other artist as good as the way The Everly Brothers' rendition of this b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l song.

It's a shame that two of the sweetest voices of our Lifetime are remembered so often for the turmoil. As someone who has witnessed family members working together every day I feel the Everly Brothers did a phenomenal job of avoiding that breakup. They paid the price for their fame but they proved they were winners and I am thankful for that and for them. God Bless the Everly Brothers... Soundtrack of my youth 🎼🖤

Du sagst es. So junge Leben ohne Chance auf eigene Entwicklung. Für mich sind sie ganz besonders. Und ich bin dankbar für Phil's wundervolle Stimme

@sooz9433 - Thank you for explaining that their family love and musical harmonies were greater than the 10-year split. I've secretly wondered if a very smart publicist manufactured "the breakup" as a kind of staged publicity stunt in order to create a "way out." They needed a break in the same way that Elvis needed a break. But the music industry refused to allow it. So "somebody" made up something dramatic to let the boys off the leash. Do you think that might have happened?

I like the illustration that Ike gave his sons by using two unyielding sticks to illustrate the unbreakable bond between brothers. But Ike was a bread-and-butter coal miner and country guitar picker from the hills. He could not possibly have imagined (no one could have imagined) the terrible pressures that are generated when simple talents like Elvis and The Everly Brothers are extracted from their down home roots and placed at the center of a globally commercialized industry. Only God could have saved them from certain death.

@everlyman - I thought "Keep A-Lovin' Me" was Don's failed demo. Nobody wanted it.

They were both at fault at Knotts Berry Farm. Don shouldn’t have come on stage inebriated but Phil shouldn’t have left the venue either. They still had two more shows to do that night. Don straightened himself out, had something to eat, got sober, and thought he could do the next two shows on his own. He “auditioned” for Bill Hollingshead, the promoter at KBF and the shows went ahead. By all accounts, Don did two good shows.

So I have heard. However Sam McCue, their guitarist at the time, commented that Don didn´t audition apparently.

@@v-g-z3689 I’m only relating what I’ve read. I wasn’t there so I don’t know what really happened. I’ve come to the conclusion with Knotts Berry Farm that there seems to be multiple versions of what happened that night and everyone thinks that their version is the correct one.
@v-g-z36896 ай бұрын
@@cak813 Yeah, I´ve noticed that too, I´ve been trying to figure out what exactly happened for quite a while but gave up in the end and was satisfied with the general idea.

@@v-g-z3689 I’ll tell you one thing I hate to see… that Phil smashed his guitar to bits. Just not true. He did put it down with a bit of a thump but the guitar sustained only minor damage and was easily repaired.
@v-g-z36896 ай бұрын
@@cak813 I agree, that seems to be the most common myth. Hell knows where I heard or read it, but someone said the same as you, that Phil didn´t smash it to bits, just put it straight down that it broke but in a way that it could be repaired. Imagine, some people even say that he smashed it over Don´s head.. Nonsense of course, and judging by Phils normal behavior I find it unlikely that he completely freaked out. I think he just had enough, put his guitar down a little heavy and "ran" from the scene to get some much needed distance and a pack of cigarettes, that´s all. I can very much relate to that by the way.
