EVERQUEST - NECROMANCER spell guide for Mischief TLP server in 2021 (Levels 1-50)

I played a Magician initially in the original release to level 50 and then I return in 2020 to play the later expansion as a Necromancer to 60th. The game had it challenges with using dial-up modems, chat to communicate and those hell levels. Raiding was extremely difficult, competitive and time consuming but always rewarding to get those kills. I ended up with my epic 1.0 and TOV gear, which in that era was UBER. These videos help me remember those good challenges.

10 months late but thanks for this. Downloaded this for the first time and rolled necro. Have a huge desire to play a dot class and this helps get me going a lot

I will also roll a necro this time. I used to roll an Enchanter, but the class has been nerfed way too much.

@@doctornachoz8099 I dont know a whole lot about the game, been doing lots of reading and watching without trying to spoil too much. But necros here definitely seem to have the feel I've been looking for. Dont get true DoT classes very often anymore

31:50 - you probably should have used rest the dead (or whatever your max level undead lull spell was) here if you knew you were going to aggro another spectre. 32:50 - you didn't wait long enough for the second/add spectre to rest. They have to get back to their spawn point in order to fully reset (reliably anyway). Also, it would often disappear from the extended target window if it had reset as well. Also, as soon as you saw that you got all the spectres on you, I would have ducked to interrupt the dot you were casting and then cast feign death. I think you should have kept your pet across the water from the beginning too, and pulled to it. You would have had plenty of time to do a "/pet back off" if you were getting hit over on the island after the failed single pull. That would have kept your pet from engaging and getting killed.

Thanks for posting all the EQ guides, really enjoying them all. If you get a chance can you please do Bard spells (songs). How to use them in groups, in regard to best combos and best situational use. Cheers

Thanks for the video. One question as a new Necro going solo right now, I have been using Siphon Strength to Buff my Strength, and you mention these spells are not worth it. Could you explain this, please? I will add I am working without a Pet till level 4 as I can melee the mobs in the starter zone but understand I will move away from Melee as I level. It also helps with my carry limit. Thanks

Buffing STR helps a tiny bit. If that spell buffed DEX, then it would make a big difference at that level.

Necro is the first character i made, i mean why whimp out in a new game, go for the dark elf necro worshiping some evil deity, this was back in 2001 :)

how do you get spells on such different lvls? on p99 its every 4 lvls i belive.

I usually get distracted quite easily, so probably wont be a necro untill Kunark. Going AFK as lich, or just not paying attention to your health is not particularly wise. >< Iksar regen can usually deal with the issue. Also has more AC natively, which is pretty good cause I like to tank for my pet, since I've noticed that some pets occationally do a backstab, and not all battlegrounds are suited for fear kiting. Would definitely recommend Vampiric Embrace and Grim Aura together

On a new TLP server the Erudite has the best stats, but the dark elf has a better starting area since it is closer to the commonlands tunnel. If the TLp server has been up for a while, go with the Erudite and buy a teleport out to North Ro so you can bind in the tunnel.
