Bob i love these guides mate and i will say its not necessarily because I’m a beginner. I enjoy creating new characters , similar to yourself, so watching these guides is kind of like starting a new character with an old EQ friend. CALLING ALL Project1999 players: and are actively recruiting new players to join our efforts in pushing the tyrannical zerg scum of off their reign of terror and eliminating their influence throughout all of Norrath. Why come to Red, you ask? I understand there are less players, but you wanna know why? Because people are intimidated or even scared .... or at the very least ignorant .... about the nature of EverQuest classic PvP. We can teach you the ins and outs of PvP in classic, and the scope and complexity of it is beyond a single KZbin comment. However, if you agree to create a new character and reach out to me or a few other officers in our guilds for assistance starting out, you will be very pleased with what we're offering. At level 1, you will receive 100 platinum, a free decent starting weapon(s) if you are a melee, and if you're a caster, I will buy all of your spells for you all the way up to level 30. You will be power leveled from level 1 to level 20 within a couple hours of logging in. How, you ask? Because on Red, you earn DOUBLE XP per kill solo, and for every group member, you earn a 20% XP bonus, with an additional 100% bonus for a 6 man group, which means you can earn a grand total of 300% XP per kill and reach level 60 at LEAST three times faster than you would on green or blue, if not even faster. And when you're 50+ and begin to acquire pixels and power? You can take up arms with your guildmates to battle REAL players in a real rival guild that will be your sworn enemies for the entire lifetime of your character, guild, and the server itself. It's WAY more fun than playing against AI-controlled mobs all the time. Give it a chance and send a tell to my shaman Devolved, or my monk Skinwalkin, or any other officer in Sanctuary. Tell them you're new and I sent you, and we'll begin grooming you for success. Thanks for your time and we look forward to seeing you in a YT (yellow text) whenever you're ready! I know I'm a bit late to the party, but props for the vid! As for playing in-character, I believe more people should at least try once. It really does make EverQuest that much more addictive.

Quick tip in case you didn't know and haven't learned by now - when creating a new character and assigning the skill points, you can right-click on the skill name to auto dump the maximum number of remaining points into that skill that are allowed. You can also right-click on the available skills at the top to take them all back. Great video. Love your work.

I decided to ditch religion because the illusions don't hide it. I got blasted entering Neriak with my High Elf Tunare chanter back in '99 and rerolled agnostic.

I have to agreee with what you said about starting robes or guild items that you start with slowly evolving as you pass quests to test your dedication to said guild. They did it with monk shackle/headbands but I think it really could have been extended across every class. I play on Red99 but still like your videos man, God bless and happy leveling on your enchanter brother.

Always liked the classic looking interface. The 'newer' one is cleaner, but less thematic, I hated when they changed it (even though it made the screen way bigger).

If you love MMO's and have never played this, do yourself a favor and try it. This is the game that put MMO's on the map, and there are really no MMO's out that haven't borrowed significantly from EQ. It also makes games like WoW look easy, as it heavily punishes you for mistakes and stupidity. Once you have played this long enough you will come to love it's approach and miss it in other games.

Warriors are my favorite class! Nothing is better then drinking the damage that one or two shots others! Tanking AoW to OMM has always been the best!

If you want to neckbeards poopsock raid content p99. If you have some extra dough and actually want a shot at some end game content while having children, jobs or friends outside of pixelland then hit retail tlp servers

Retail has better structured endgame than p99, but its gonna take you a lonely while to catch up. P99 has a much better early game/leveling experience, but it's really hard to get your foot in the door in regards to endgame. If you just want to invest a little time I'd say p99, if you really want to do raids... well if you really want to raids I'd recommend other MMOs like WoW but between the two retail is much better

For tangible benefits, the only time I'd recommend picking a deity as an enchanter is to go Tunare High Elf. Their cultural armor is quite good for enchanters and they get access to a neat quest in PoG later. Otherwise the other deity choices are purely for flavor, which is totally cool. With all the tools they get, if your enchanter really needs to get somewhere, they probably could regardless of deity. In Luclin they added a nice shoulder item that is only usable by enchanters with a deity, the Cloak of Faith, probably for those who played early on and didn't know that their deity choice might end up being a trap. A Bertoxxulous enchanter sounds like a really cool concept; I picture your character charming or brainwashing people into joining the Bloodsaber cult. As far as I know, agnostic humans are totally fine going into the sewer temple. I don't recall my agnostic monk, wizard or bard ever having problems in there. It's only when you follow one of their rival deities that they get aggressive. (Correction: just tested, they are glares toward my agnostic dwarf rogue so maybe sprinkle in a bit of racism there too xD) I look forward to more of the series, will be following closely. Might even see you in-game as well at some point. :)

I've had a look at the deity thing a bit more and on reflection, as I was going to move over the Odus to do some more stuff there anyway, I may continue the guide as an agnostic Erudite. Flavour really seems to be the only + which is great, but was hoping for a few more deity based quests and items.

@@SuperBitsandBob Don't blame you there. As a Bertoxx enchanter, flavor is all you'd really have going for you. And all of the quests you get from the Bloodsabers would destroy your Qeynos surface privileges, which could be fun for some, frustrating for others. :D Agnostic Erudite is a good choice too. With that you can still enjoy the evil places of the world. I totally get that mindset; Neriak is my favorite city in the game and I always do what I can to make my characters be at least somewhat welcome in there.

Taking a religion can offset some places you would be able to access as a agnostic enchanter with illusions.

After all the sub money and hours I've wasted on tlps I'm thinking about trying out p99. I want a more real EQ experience. TLPs are fun and all but the population immediately falls off around PoP and I'm more in the game for the long run

Hm. I wonder if I should try Everquest after... never playing it. I was a UO man back in the day! I've been playing Project Gorgon, but it's getting a little dull at the moment. EQ seems to have a bit more depth maybe? At the same time I enjoy the freedom of PG.

Does anyone know where I can get some assistance trying to figure out some issues I’m having with DLing EQ on my Surface pro? I played EQ all the way back since second phase beta, and was one of the first ever level 50 rogue on the fennin Ro server. But it’s been such a long time since I’ve played but I’ve had a hiccup after I thought I had downloaded everything but when finally getting to the final blue loading screen with the hot high elf 🧝‍♀️, a pop up screen comes on mentioning something about not being able to go further due to some weird memory issue thst doesn’t entirely make sense to me.... I’m really hoping I can get this thing figured out and fixed ASAP so I can get on blue or green ( which server should I play on?).
