That last tip was the most valuable to me, I was pretty miffed about the lack of inertia, the ships felt more like cars with tight grip. I had to simulate inertia by flying sideways or backwards whenever I wished to drift. Thank you so much!

There is no such game afaik but the same developer made Freelancer (Chris Roberts the creator left before the game was released) and now Star Citizen.

I have never played Wing Commander so I don't know how it compares, but there is a lot of talk on the forums how this is the 'spiritual successor' of Freelancer

The "Toggle inertia input" option is now under the Misc section. Under Game / Gamplay you can also change the "Inertia Dampers Button Mode", e.g. to "Hold to Enable" to stop your ship. You drift in that vector, but the ship stabilizes it's own axis. So you won't roll endlessly like in Elite Dangerous with Flight Assist Off. Thank you very much!

i learned that secure containers have a small puzzle , like inserting energy spheres into sockets , or pressing red buttons in some order.

That is correct, and you would normally find very valuable loot in the secured containers.

Never sell weapons and devices, dismantle them, you'll need the parts. Always sell single use items, even super rare ones don't dismantle, they're just destroyed

Unfortunately I can't give much advice as I don't own a flightstick and throttle, but i prefer the keyboard and mouse to the gamepad. It feels immediately familiar and as though the game was designed with keyboard and mouse in mind from my point of view.

that question all depends on what point of early access you are talking about. if were talking about from initial EA release its a much larger game now.

Just bought the game. 17 hours in and I'm still on the first mission. For the life of me, I can not figure out how to get a handle on the controls. Its like I've been paralyzed and have to learn to walk again.

Are you using mouse and keyboard?

@@topchopmain Yes I am. A generic HP Keyboard and a vertical mouse.

@@NobleUnclean Alright so the mouse allows for aiming and directional movement the W key is forward the S key is backwards, A and D keys strafe left and right. CRTL is down and Space bar is up with shift as boost. With E and Q rotating the ship. I would recommend using forward and mouse to get a handle on the movement before adding in any other keys then increase each of them as you get used to the previous set. I started off by only using the A and D keys to strafe if I'm approaching a big ship that can lay down a lot of fire, otherwise i would Only really use the W key, Boost and aiming and changing direction with the mouse. I hope this will help you a little, as you get used to the movement it becomes significantly easier. Also the heavy ships like the gunship, bomber and vindicator don't rely on manoeuvring as much as the medium class ship you start out in.

@Topchop, I'm very sorry. I should have been more clear. During that period, I experimented with every single option in the control menu. I changed the sensitivity for pitch, yaw, and roll. I also tried out the 3rd and 1st person modes. I changed the mouse sensitivity for my operating system and enabled or disabled options that presented that choice. I could go on and on. More specifically, I'm looking for a detailed explanation of which options affect what and what changes in terms of ship motion when you edit them. The 'roll' axis option, for example, doesn't even have a default. Does that mean that roll is disabled? This is what I'm talking about. I hope you see what I mean. I did reach a point where I could control the ship to an acceptable degree, but combat was a nightmare. I could never reach a point where I could actually have a dogfight. The enemies just find me, I start flailing around, trying desperately to force my reticle into a position to fire at them. Although I've been waiting for this game for years, I think it might be time to give up games for good. I promised myself I would never be this person, and yet here I am. I think I'm just too old.

@@NobleUnclean Firstly I don't think you are too old we just need to find the best settings to make it feasible for you to have fun piloting your spaceships. Can I ask what it is like to fly when all settings are default, flying in 3rd person (far) for camera and with aim assist on, also are the inertia dampeners on or off?

@@ooosiii72 Don't worry I didn't take it as an insult but as something I still need to work on. I'm still new and my audio quality has improved significantly from when I first started but I also know it needs to improve more so I'm glad whenever I receive feedback, so thank you. With regards to the section of the video you highlighted I said " I also personally prefer having at least one long range weapon ..."
