The stop of the 757 production was (as you correctly said) conceded in 2003. The A321XLR project was announced in 2018. So one can argue if that was "soon after"!

The biggest benefit over Boeing’s 737 max for me has always been that pilots and cabin crew don’t need any type retraining at all. The A320neo family offers the same cockpit and design to airlines and pilots who already know the plane extremely well, while reducing fuel and noise to really remarkable levels.

Every Airline Prefer to new AIRBUS A321xlr than BOEING ! Hmmm.... If it is Garuda Indonesia can have AIRBUS A320 and A321 more than BOEING 737 like this, so the Garuda Indonesia will use AIRBUS A320 and A321 for replacement of BOEING 737 if it is got crisis. Like Citilink, Pelita Air, Transnusa Airlines, Indonesia Air Asia and Super Air Jet that have only AIRBUS A320 only than BOEING 737. Oh, even Batik air both have AIRBUS A320 and BOEING 737 but I prefer Batik air on AIRBUS A320 only than BOEING 737 like this.

The Airbus a321XLR does not have the take off performance of the Boeing 757. The Boeing 757 has a larger wingspan so the wing can generate more lift than the Airbus a321 NEO variants can. For most airports this is not a problem but some airports are either high altitude with shorter runways or are low altitude airports with much more shorter runways. The Faroe Islands have an airport with the runway length of 5900 feet long. Which makes flying the Airbus a321 or a321 NEO very difficult or impossible to safely take off. The Boeing 757 has slightly more thrust than the the Airbus a321 NEO but not much more thrust. 5:08 The Boeing 757 and ironically the Airbus a320 NEO or even the Airbus a320 CEO or Airbus 319 can do. Most airlines do not have to worry about such issues but for some airlines that is a problem. Also the Airbus a321 has almost the same seating capacity but has a cabin length that is still 9 feet shorter than the Boeing 757 200 and close to thirty feet shorter than the Boeing 757. The Airbus 321 NEO has almost the same capacity and range as the Boeing 757 but is not a direct replacement. Most airlines do not have any other alternatives that is why Airbus has so many orders. An Airbus a322 would have better if it had a larger wingspan. Will Airbus stretch the Airbus a321 to make the Airbus a320 series an actual replacement of the Boeing 757. Airbus is too cheap to do so. Airbus made a more fuel efficient plane that is still compromised. Boeing has done the same thing with the Boeing 737 Max. At the end of the day neither Airbus nor Boeing are willing to make a true Boeing 757 replacement.
@rtbrtb_dutchy41836 ай бұрын
You are not comparing apples to apples. Yes, the 757 has better take off performance at max take off weight. But at max take off weight, the XLR can fly 900 NM further than the 757. So the comparison is not fair. You have to reduce the fuel load on the XLR so it has the same range as the 757. Now you will find that the performance is the same. The same is for the A320 or the A319, those aircraft have a lot less range, so you are not comparing it fairly.

Airbus A321XLR Takeoff Runway Length: Approximately 2,500 to 3,000 meters (8,200 to 9,800 feet). Landing Runway Length: Approximately 1,800 to 2,200 meters (5,900 to 7,200 feet). Boeing 757 Takeoff Runway Length: Approximately 2,500 to 3,200 meters (8,200 to 10,500 feet). Landing Runway Length: Approximately 1,800 to 2,200 meters (5,900 to 7,200 feet).

I don't think there are too many operators looking to fly the B757 or A321XLR to the Faroe Islands, and as such Airbus didn't factor such a use into the development of this aircraft. Airbus figured its customers wanted a medium sized single aisle aircraft with exceptional fuel efficiency and long range so that new point to point routes could be opened up. Airbus figured right and the airlines are queuing up to get their hands on this game changing aircraft.

When you keep hyping Airbus like that, the arguments doesnt feel as objective anymore. I mean sure the a320 is proven to be an amazing aircraft but the fact that some airlines like mine can still keep up, still being competitive with an a b737 which was originally made in the 60s says quite a lot too. You cant deny how good that aircraft also is, otherwise we wouldn't have 500+ of them at my work and still make a profit, still be able to do everything efficiently. I fly the Max everyday and real pilots knows that the majority of safety comes from applying and updating procedures, not the aircraft itself. At my work, we fly almost 3000 flights per day, using the b737 only and our safety record is pristine, and so is our procedures and application of them.

I know of airlines which operates C46 or DC3 efficiently. In Russia you can still fly AN-2. The B737 is too short on its legs so can not use the same performance engines as A320, like the Leap-1B slightly smaller than the Leap-1A, then slightly less efficient, and requiring the infamous MCAS to keep the Bmax flyable, almost...
