I’ve had the BCP since December ‘21, enjoyed having that 6% back on groceries and streaming plus I do use it for gas since I don’t have a dedicated gas card yet (looking to get one in November 👍🏻). But, I just found out about how Amex will usually do a soft pull after you’ve had a card with them for a while. So sure enough, I went ahead and applied for the Amex Gold and was approved without a hard pull! Super excited, it should be here in a couple of days can’t wait to add it as my dining card.

Another nice video Mark. One thing though...I've received 2 hard pulls from AMEX. My first card was the Aspire (March 2021)...hard pull, Gold and Platinum(June 2021) soft pull. My latest card the Delta Platinum (Oct 2021) was a hard pull. I called AMEX CS because I was shocked that it happened. I was told that a hard pull, though rare, could happen at any time. It's out of their control. Maybe it's due to getting 4 cards within one year...I don't know.

I think I got very lucky with my first amex card. I had a sub 690 fico and 6ish months of credit history. Got pre approved for a BCP and Gold. Ended up going with the BCP but I feel fortunate. It’s been almost 90 days and I’ve gotten the statement credit for the BCP so I’m hoping to get the Gold next.

Just a data point, I had a $10,000 limit on a Hilton Honors card and $20,000 on the Aspire card. I then got the Surpass card with a $35,000 limit for a combined $65,000. No review. 3 months later my first business card with a $10,000. No review. I thought you may find this interesting

I have 4 Amex credit cards (not to mention 3 charge cards), of which 1 is a business card, with a total SL of $65,200: BCP = $30K BCE = $15.2K HH Surpass = $15K BB Plus = $5K So far no financial review. I’m still going to apply for a 5th Amex credit card in March of 2023 to see if I get it. I have no problems in granting Amex my tax returns to prove my stated income. It literally PAYS to tell the truth if you want to get CLIs.

I applied for BCP and got the pop up saying I wasn’t eligible for intro offer, but could still apply anyway. I withdrew the application. I’d really like the BCO because 6% on groceries, etc. Do you think i could ask them to take my credit limit on the $35k Delta card down to $25 (where it was when I first got it) and then be more likely to get BCP? Or would I be safer getting a charge card like Amex green?

Hey, Mark I am just getting into the credit card game and was wondering if you could give me some advice. Firstly, I have one CC currently And my Experian score is 758. I wanted to get into AMEX with the gold as I mostly eat out and figured the $4000 in 6 months would be more realistic than maybe trying to push a CSP within 3 months (however I could do that and literally just use the CSP for everything). Anyways, I was wondering if you think it’d be smart to go for the gold (and settle for green if denied for gold rn) and also get the CFF to get into Chase ecosystem or any other suggestions to start earning rewards for my everyday spending? I have not seen any data points on that! My thoughts are always stay away from gift cards in large amounts but if you go to Kroger and buy a $100 gift card but also spend $2000 in other legit places I don’t think it’ll be anything that gets their attention at all. I forgot to talk about how to avoid pop ups in this video 🤦‍♂️ so I’m planning a full video on that topic next! Man I’m so pumped for Halloween haha. I love this time of year!!

Yes! Platinum is a charge card even though it does have a pay over time option. It’s treated differently than their credit cards with hard credit limits

Data on charge cards isn’t as clear. A new rule that I should have mentioned is that you can only get 1 platinum card every 90 days but you should be able to get charge cards pretty often. I don’t believe 1/30 or 2/90 are true for charge cards

@@markplymale I applied for the basic hilton card last week because I have a stay coming up, and I applied for the cash magnetic because Amex send me an email for $250 sub. Even though it is not historical high, I still take it because I thought this would help my uitilization, I also liked the 15 month 0% APR. Amex gives me $9600 for hilton and $10000 for cash magnetic within 7 days. This raised my total limit with Amex to $27,200. I guess I will be more careful in the future in terms of taking another card from them.

I would say $40,000 income would be ideal but you can probably be approved in the $30K+ range you just won’t have high spending capabilities at that level. Amex charge cards don’t necessarily have spending limits but not everyone can put $20,000+ charges on their cards. It’s based on income. They’ll pull from TransUnion and Experian most of the time

I'm treating my Green Card like a credit card and pay it off immediately and pay as I go. I give them a little bit a week and it helps build a relationship with them.

@@markplymale All I should owe the first statement with the annual fee and any unpaid transactions that I haven't paid for. Like if its a 1.00 cup of coffee on the last day, then it should be $151. $150 annual fee and the $1 for coffee. Plus, the Green, Gold and the Platinum don't report utilization.

I found out recently in less than a year and 1⁄2 that my max on on credit cards with them its 5. My 5th card is the blue business cash. At any day now my amazon business prime cart should be coming in. I was floored.
