Doesn't cancelling credit cards negatively affect your credit score?

Hi Andy, regarding cancelling your Amex account (to reset the 24 months), I tried to do this but when I spoke to them, I was informed that if I completely close my Amex account I’d lose all my Avios, apparently the T&Cs specify that you need an open account with the account that earned the Avios points to use them. Have you come across this? Thanks

Hi, on the American Express website, it says on all card that " I will not be eligible for a welcome bonus if I hold or have any personal Amex cards in the past 24 months" so any others cards I would apply for there would be no bonus. I have already BA Amex card 0 Annual fees.

how does travel insurance work Abroad like someplace like America ? Do you pay off everything then get refunded ?

If you have the Amex Platinum Card, and you use it to pay for your trip, the travel insurance is automatic irrespective of whether you pay your card bill in full or not at the end of the month.

You’ll make a claim if you need to separate to your card balance. So see it as an included extra. However the card is a lot of money so I think you need more than insurance to justify it. Plus not all travel agents etc will accept Amex, so you might need to pay again

Anything which can be paid with a long card number can be paid with an Amex. The one to watch is taking out cash as that will cost you

Good question. Well you can still get the BA Premium Plus for the bonus there. Otherwise, to avoid the £140 annual fee, take a look at Nectar or Platinum Cashback

Yes it still works, go for either the Nectar card or either of the Platinum Cashback cards. Then you go for either the BAPP or the Platinum Card, doesn't matter which order you do the last two in

Cancelling the card just after you've gained your Membership Reward points is the worst idea!!! American Express can actually claw this back effectively you owing Amex!

That’s not in the terms and conditions. The important thing is to have another membership reward card for your points. Or to have already transferred them to something like Avios
