I loved Brock, but you have to admit that he didn’t fit the shows vision. The anime and games are based around trainers not breeders. I admit he did have a fair amount of focus in Indigo and Johto but after that he got shunned to make way for May and Dawn. If they ever do an Pokemon series where they cover all aspects of the Pokemon World however I think Brock could be a pretty compelling main character

@@theonlyhikaru As someone who grew up with the og anime, Brock and Misty were honestly very stale by the time Johto came around. They made sense to be around in the Kanto anime when Ash was clueless and needed his smarter friends around but they just didn't contribute all that much to the group dynamic in Johto. Misty was a mother to Togepi and that's about it, Brock was a Breeder and that's about it. They're still enjoyable characters but he clearly values interesting character moments and development over "This character is nice"

Considering that Ash's mentality almost always gets "reset", Brock's there to reteach him the basics. His leaving was one of the downfalls of Unova, though I still enjoyed it.

Not to mention she didn't even become the Kalos queen in the end. But at the same time, she decided to keep trying and accepted Palermo's advice that she wasn't ready and figured out on her own she needed to make people smile instead of people making her smile. It's defiantly a lesson on how you need to have self-confidence instead of expecting it from others to succeed. Her cutting her hair after her failure was not just to change her appearance it was to say goodbye to her past self that had no clue what she even wanted.

My Top 5 companion list: 1. Serena: Although the character development came 50 episodes late she’s had the best development out of any companion ash ever had. She also possesses wife traits since she makes him deserts and is Ash biggest supporter. When he was depressed after losing a gym battle she snapped him out of it. She pretty much played the girlfriend/wife role for Ash 2. Brock: What can you say about Brock ? Dude is the funniest character and also the thirstiest. He is Ash first mentor and played the big brother role for Ash. 3. Misty: She’s mean at first but becomes genuinely a sweet person to Ash. She honestly is the big sister ash never had since all they did was fight but she still encouraged him. 4. Clemont: If there was ever a best friend role I would definitely give it to him. Dude was honestly a great companion for both Ash and Serena on their journey. He encouraged both them and made episodes funny with his inventions. 5. Everyone else: Pretty much everyone from the series (AD, DP, BW, SM) fits in this category. All of his friends are special and helped him

@Button Moon None of their personality really stood out (oh I'm a geek, I'm your happy go lucky girl and I'm your blend rival withtout any character progression) I fell like past rivals like in gen 4 or 5 had either a intertaining personality like berry that made me want to read his dialogs instead of skipping them or even your 2 rivals in gen 5, they want through a lot of character changes and were actually had their little side stories Look, in the show they were a great cast, but they were just really bland in the games (cough cough like the team flair) I just feel like the developpers probably left aside the writing and story of the game to put as much efforts on the 3d models and 3d graphics in general (which makes a lot of sense)

I'll be frank. I love Serena whenever her focus is on her goals and her impact as a performer. Her character arc in that regard is great, and while I prefer Dawn as a character in general, I still love watching Serena's journey, and the showcases were truly spectacles of animation to behold. Unfortunately, I'm held back from truly loving Serena because of how she was whenever the focus wasn't on her specifically. While a majority of the other side characters could still be fun supports from the side when they weren't being focused on, Serena's entire character became her crush on Ash, and it very quickly became nauseating to me. Not that I'm against the idea, but it was overblown out of proportion to the point of it becoming her most prominent trait. None of their supposed moments together felt natural because we were getting Serena's feelings on the matter shoved in our faces almost every episode, to the point where her not worshipping the ground he walks on is treated like some sort of dramatic moment just because he's in a bad mood when it happens. It makes you feel that any relationship they might have wouldn't be healthy because she would essentially be a yes girl until Ash had negative emotions where suddenly there'd be problems rather than her actually helping him through it. All in all, I feel the whole crush aspect REALLY holds Serena back as a character, and I wish it either wasn't there at all or was way more downplayed. Because she's perfectly fine whenever that aspect isn't in focus for her, and she'd definitely still be in my top 5 if I were the one making a list. Unfortunately, the writers didn't give her the right focus enough of the time, and it was honestly one of the lowest points of the whole Kalos anime for me. Still love her. Just putting my thoughts out there.

Still I can't get a valid reason why Serena is at the top of every videos. Atleast he didn't mention its because of Amourshipping. I still don't see Serena is not a sparky and fiery character like Misty and iris or a character which always be cheering and helping by your side like Dawn or a strong hearted character like May. If you see the xyz episodes you would understand... 1. She herself fought with her mother and she ran away from home because she didnt wanna become a rhyhorn racer. It's pretty relatable how she wants to follow her own dream and not her parents will. 2. Her journey to the finals of becoming kalos queen was very heartening and wonderful I'll say the whole xy/xyz series was very well made and I suck at explaining every single point because this comment is getting too long now

Misty would be number one on my list since I grew up with her in the 90's. I even had a toy of her and not the rest of the cast. I was in shocked when she left and I felt uneasy because they brought the new girl May which I then grew to love in the early 2000's.

There’s an episode similar to that sun and moon episode called “Thank you papa Yayoi’s treasure” from smile precure. There’s a very touching scene where Yayoi Has a memory with her deceased father. She said in that emotional scene “I’m so sorry... I’m sorry I didn’t remember sooner...You cared about me so much,papa... So,So much” It’s so emotional and touching! Just some advice for art, I don’t recommend smudge shading or using a darker shade of the color that you’re shading, also I suggest putting folds at elbow, chest areas(make and female), and hips. If you need some help with color theory I recommend GingerPale’s video on colors! It helped me a lot

I feel like Misty is the best of every aspect. She was funny at times, serious at times, kept everyone's feet on the ground, has a good backstory, and while she did get angry at times, it added to the comedic part of the show. But I think the main reason she is my number one spot is because, to my knowledge, unlike every other travel companion Ash has had up to this point, Misty was the only one forced to leave. Every other companion Ash had CHOSE to go a sperate path for one reason or another, but Misty was the only one forced to go and probably would have stayed if not for her sisters. Honestly, Serena is way too overhyped and should not be at number one. I would put her in one of the last spots because she just wasn't that great and didn't really add anything. For me she was just 'the random girl that wasn't mentioned throughout the entire series except for just now because we need another female companion for Ash.' She didn't really add anything, and honestly she made x and y hard for me to watch because of her crush on Ash and made it so obvious that it was just awkward. In fact she's the main reason I never finished x and y.
