@SparrowNoblePoland3 жыл бұрын
@@filson1358 You are ignorant and idiotic. JB is a gimmick, no agent would use AM exactly for the reason not to draw attention. And certainly not a custom one, as this would have been a proof that in some cases could even give casus belli if captured. And I'm not JDM fan. I just know facts. It is estimated that with even 4WD, maximum usable power up to 160kph is 500BHP. This literally means, in narrow town corners almost anything would be better than a fat Aston. Lancer Evolution X is considered a very heavy car for rallying, and it's still 300kg lighter than Astons. Meaning, on city streets it could easily win even if it was 2WD just like Aston. But it is 4WD, meaning a total demolition of the British fatman.

@SparrowNoblePoland3 жыл бұрын
@@callummclachlan4771 ABS a bit more tricky. Either you have trained for braking with or without it. I think in most real life situations it's better to have it, but personally as I was trained not to have one, I just prefer to have a more oldschool car and drive slower. Then couple of years ago, when snowy winters still happened, it was useful not to have ABS is some specific circumstances, but these required specific training and cold blood, and its not worth mentioning. Same, no drivers these days would use a technique of braking through digging into loose ground today. Most people just panic and can't think tactically under pressure, and there's not many roads with gravel roadsides anymore, so then this technique also is not as relevant as it was.

Aston Martin has been using that specific grille shape since day 0. When Ford bought Aston they took that shape and used it for their own cars thus devalueing the design. If you look at every modern Ford, they have that very specific shape. The 2015 Ford Mondeo/Fusion is the most notorious one with the AM grille. Now AM are changing the design language they had since the 50s.

1987 V8 Vantage It probably wasn't intended as such, but to me, the Goldeneye chase is a nod to the Aston DBS and Ferrari Dino chase in the pilot episode of The Persuaders in the same location. Roger Moore in an Aston which is a reason why he never drove one as 007. But then, we were given the Lotus Esprit, so no great shame. The next Bond in an Evija would be a game-changer. Ian Fleming did put Bond in an Aston in at least one of his novels (a DB2/4, I believe) so that's where the association actually started.

Also to keep in mind he's an industrial/automotive designer...would be better if he spoke to (performance/mechanical) engineers before making such a statement, they'd have told him to keep it down a bit 😉

@@danielvisintainer3352 You don't know what you're talking about. Yes, modern drifting isn't fast. But olschool rally style 4 wheel slides 'just a little bit sideways', that used grip of all 4 wheel in a well balanced car to the max, was the fastest driving technique for rear wheel rally cars in the past. Especially live axle cars, and DB5 is one of them. Just watch how Ari Vatanen did drive Escort RS1800 in late 70s/early 80s, or how Henri Toivonen did so with Lotus Sunbeam. It was the fasted driving technique for cars of that specific design. I have a friend who had a car like this (not an Aston, but 70s rwd rally car with live axle, and despite all disadvantage in suspension and braking department, and having 80-130 BHP less, he could beat Subaru STIs and Lancer Evos on twisty roads, just as long as the race was going downhill.

@@ZesPak You're forgetting that Ferraris are designed for tracks, thus longer turns and higher speeds. The lower the speed, and the more twisty the road, the power becomes less significant. Ferraris have better suspension, brakes and tires, yes, but they're tuned to a different kind of a job, while DB5 is a lot like a 60s/70s rally car in design, only a bit heavier and with 6 cylinder engine instead of 4 cylinder, but still well balanced. My friend actually had a rally car of similar design and technical disadvantage, and as long as he used a very specific driving style, that involved a lot of Scandinavian flicks and slight 4 wheel drifts, he could beat even Subaru STI or Lancer Evo. The other condition was that the road had to be going downhill, because he had 80-130BHP under the bonnet less than Subs and Evos.

Great video! Not sure about the claim that the DB5 could beat the F355 but we'll forgive his biases. 😆

He mentioned quite specific circuimstances, like narrow twisty mountain road, and a specific driving technique. In real life, on that kind of roads, especially going downhill, there's lots of cars that in competitive sport beaten cars they normally should have had no chance of beating. In rallying, a car that uphill is in the last 10, downhill can be in top 10.
@PaulStewartAviation3 жыл бұрын
@@SparrowNoblePoland yeah I know, I watched the video. And there would be no circumstances where the Aston would be faster. The F355 would be faster in the corners and on the straights. And the brakes especially would be vastly superior.

5:53 How appropriate that the new Aston Martin's had to have their frames..... Bonded!

Ian Fleming always had James Bond drive a Bentley. The upper management of Bentley were not interested in being part of James Bond movie in 1964. David Brown the owner of Aston Martin was interested being involved with the James Bond movie when the producers of James Bond reached out to Aston Martin in 1964.

Incredible that an Aston Martin directive doesn't know that the car used in "GOLDFINGER" wasn't a DB5, it was a DB4 series 5.

A tribute to Daniel Craig - no other actor has committed to the role as much as Craig has over the past 15 years. He succeeded in making his portrayal of James Bond truly his own. A legacy that will last forever on screen. We thank you. Daniel. You're the GOAT
